development and foods questions

So, LO will be 8 mo next Wed. Here is where we stand, currently:

*he sits great unassisted but has not gotten in that position on his own yet

*rolls all over the place, but not really getting on all fours yet. I might have caught him in that position a couple times but that's it

*still bf'ing (until next week--I just can't do it anymore )and he eats 530, 930, 130, 530, & 930--5-5.5 oz each time.

*eats solids (1-2oz) @ 930, 130, & 530.

*sleep is questionable. He takes good naps and is, generally, a good sleeper, but I think he might be getting a little too dependent on me in the sense that he wants to fall asleep on me almost every night. We put him down between 8-9pm, I'll wake him to feed him b/w 9-10pm, then, if he doesn't wake up for whatever reason, I wake him at 530 to feed him and he will eventually wake up for the day between 8-10am.

My questions:

*When will he drop a feeding? My pedi says around 9 months, but we've got a big boy (21.8 lbs & ~29") and he can go a while b/w feedings.

*Any tips/suggestions on switching from bm to formula?

*Not sure what to do about this sleep issue. He doesn't really sleep through the night. He used to and does occasionally, but lately, he'll just cry and scream when I put him down and will stop if I pick him back up. I know I'm enabling that, but I just don't know what to do. I've let him go for a little bit, but he gets so worked up, he obviously won't be falling asleep. We always read before bed, but sometimes he just stares at his door like he wants to go out and see what's going on outside of his room. When I'm walking around his room with him, if we get remotely close to the door, he must think he's getting to go outside b/c that will set off a little crying fit. I'm just not sure....

*Any tips/suggestions on switching from bm to formula? Mix 1/2 BM 1/2 formula bottles for a while to help LO adjust to the taste. Also, make sure you wean yourself off the pump slowly, so you don't risk clogged ducts and mastitis.

  DS wasn't able to be put down drowsy but awake until 11ish months. Some babies need to be rocked to sleep longer.
