Maternity Photos?

Hi Ladies, Did any of you do maternity photos? If so, how far along were you when you took them? I was thinking about hiring a photog for my shower in March and then having her/him do maternity shots with me and hubby afterwards. By the time my first shower rolls around, I'll be 26 wks. I'm wondering if I should wait for my second shower (having one back home and one locally) where I will be around 30 wks and obviously much bigger. I know I've read on here that you usually start to slow down physically after 28wks, but what would you all reccomend? Earlier, smaller belly with more energy or later, bigger belly and less energy?

Personally, I would do it prior to 30 weeks. I'm 32 weeks with twins and feel that in the past two weeks I've transformed from a cute pregnant woman to a cow. It's probably somewhat psychological, but I feel like I'm gaining face weight, I'm too tired to put effort into looking nice, and I've grown past the "cute bump" phase. I think it depends whether you're more concerned with getting pictures where you look great...in which case do it early...or with getting pictures that showcase your impressive bump...in this case do it later. I hope this doesn't sound too vain!

I had mine taken at 31 weeks, but it wasn't a big deal to have any taken one way or the other... so had I not made it to 31 weeks I wouldn't have been upset about not having maternity photos taken.

I did get stuck on a rock near the river we were taking photos and it took 3 people to help me up since I had to not only get up from sitting on the ground/rock but it was at a slight incline with me having absolutely no core strength to really help - haha!

I agree to take them prior to 30 weeks.  For ladies with only 1 baby it would be fine.  But for me,. there was NOTHING cute about me past 30w.  I too felt like an awkward cow.  I referred to myself as a "weeble wobble".  :-)

I'm taking mine at 30 weeks.  I figure I'll still be able to do some laying down poses and have the energy for an hour long photo shoot.  And I won't be too puffy and sweaty.

I did mine at 26 weeks and it was perfect.  If I'd waited until 30 weeks, I would have missed out on them because I was already on hospital bedrest.

I did mine at 28 weeks and had plenty of a bump.  We then did some non-professional ones at Christmas at 31 weeks.  I will say I would have been miserable doing the professional ones at 31 weeks as we were outside and walking around.

I think doing them anytime before 30 should be fine but for piece of mind I would get them done by 28 weeks.

Did mine at 26 weeks and thought it was perfect energy wise. At 30 weeks I was dying dying. and I had a ton of swelling by then, even though I didn't deliver til 36+ weeks.

Cool, thanks for the info Ladies.  I'm sure I will be plenty big enough for photos by 26wks.

I just did them at 29w.  I highly suggest you do not do them after the showers.  My body hurt terribly for 2 days after my shower (30w).  You will not have the energy to do them after the shower. You will have a good size belly before 30w.  I would def do them before 30w.  I am just 30w now and I have slowed down more than ever, and just started swelling.  A week ago I did not look like I do today lol.  I was fine doing them at 29w, but was sore after.
