Failed my 1 hour glucose test!

I failed my 1 hour glucose test...boo!

I passed with my daughter and fully expected to pass again but that's not the case!

My Dr's office has you fast 2 hours before the test, which I did do but I will say dummy me ate a big lunch and about 4 or 5 pieces of chocolate mini Halloween size right before my 2 hour cut off. I'm not sure if that even would effect the test?!?

I needed to get a 135 or less and got a 160. I have to take the 3 hour test on Wednesday, I'm less then thrilled. But hopefully I'll pass!

Anyone else fail or have an experience from a previous pregnancy?

I failed my 1 hour on Wed and had to go do the 3 hr today.  I couldnt eat after midnight.  Got there around 8:15.  She drew blood, had to drink the same nasty stuff, and then every hour had to get more blood drawn.  Around hour 2 I started feeling real shaky and sickish.   I went outside in the cold air to help get myself together b/c I certainly didn't want to do it all over again.  I think it was just b/c I was so hungry.  It was a very long 3 hrs....sitting with nothing to do but read and play on phone.  I won't know my results until tomorrow evening (hopefully).  Good luck!

Sorry you failed. It seems like everyone is failing! I am getting worried about taking mine now. Good luck with your 3 hour test.

Sorry you failed, that would be frustrating.  If it is any consolation, I've had several friends tell me that they failed their 1 hr but ended up passing the 3 hr so this definitely does not mean you will end up with a GD diagnosis.

Huh. I have my two hour test next week and I have to fast for 12 hours. A two hour fast doesn't even really seem like a "fast".

For the 1 hour test it's only a 2 hour fast at my Dr's office. I've read a lot online about it though and it seems like a lot of offices don't make you fast at all for the 1 hour test. But it's the 1 hour glucose tolerance test we're talking about. It's not a diagnostic test like the 3 hour where they actually test the levels of everything in your blood (send it to a lab). For the 1 hour they put a drop of blood in a machine for a quick reading just like you would do if you're testing your blood at home if you have GD.

For my 3 hour test on Wednesday I have to fast for 10 hours.

Who knows?!?!

The more I obsess and read online about GD testing I realize that every Dr's office does things a little different, so who knows? I've read all sorts of things that Dr's have recommended their patients do before the test.

I just hope none of us have it! I know it's not the end of the world by any means if we do, it's just a whole lot easier if we're GD free!

I've failed it twice and passed the three hour twice with flying colors.  The three hour is no fun, but from what I've read a large majority of people who have failed the 1 hr go on to pass the 3 hr.

My Dr told me I didn't have to fast, but not to eat anything too sweet before hand because it can effect the results. Maybe the chocolate you ate cause you to fail? Hopefully you'll pass the 3 hour one.
