My LO is 6 1/2 weeks and suddenly she's eating less. For 3 weeks she's consistently eaten 80ml every 3 hours. For the last weekish, she's been taking only 60ml. She's also on Lasix (a diuretic). I don't know if I should be concerned. Anyone else's LO cut back on their portions?
Re: XP: less milk?
It is good you are honed in to this early. It could be a growth spurt, like PP said. Is she having enough wet and dirty diapers a day? Have you talked to her Ped about this? Is she eating throughout the night ('reverse cycling)? It could be a number of things, and with her being so young, you would want to make sure that her Ped is aware of any changes in her eating habits. Is she getting about 16 oz/day? KellyMom states that 19-30 oz is in the norm, but my daughter, at 9 weeks, started only eating 8-12 oz/day. She did this for about 7 months, until she got ear tubes at 10 months. There are many causes for food decline, so getting in to your Ped, or calling the on-call number would be a good idea, just to make sure it isn't something else. My DD had a fever at 4 weeks old, and I took her to the ER. I told them I think she has an ear infection, and they said it is very uncommon for children that young to have ear infections, but she did have a viral infection. As long as she isn't running a fever, I would guess she is just settling in to eating habits that are more fit for her, and she will probably increase at the next spurt (which is at about 3 months, but that range is pretty big, from what I found with my second).
