Hi! I have been a lurker for months and thought it was about time that I introduce myself. We are pursuing international adoption from Moldova. We just decided on an agency, and we should have our application in the mail in the next week or so. (We were initially going to adopt from Russia, but the ban went into place right before we sent in our application.)
I have always felt driven to adopt even before our IF challenges. DH, on the other hand, took a while to decide that this was the right path for us. After our last failed IVF in May 2011 landed me in the hospital, he was 100% done with IF treatments. He finally became a little more open to me talking about adoption within the past 4-5 months, and about a month ago he said we might as well get started with the process. I am so excited to be embarking on this path to our child.

Awesome!! GL on your journey!!
Were you frustrated by not being 'on the same page' as DH for a while? After my son's stillbirth in Sept, my doctor strongly advised me against getting pregnant again. My DH has had a tremendously hard time coming to terms with it. We're both in counseling, but I feel like even though he's ready to research adoption, he doesn't have his whole heart in it yet. It makes me really sad.
Anyway, I hope you have a great, quick adoption experience!
Mother of two wonderful boys! Blessed through adoption.
Welcome! Sorry to hear about your IF struggles, but glad you guys are on the same page and on your way to your child!
I read a little bit about Moldova, do you really have to be in the country for 30 days on the first trip?? Do you guys have jobs that would allow that?
After 2 years of IF workups/treatments and 2 IUIs, we have closed the door on fertility treatments.
We are very excited to be pursuing international adoption from China!
6000 miles and a day
I was definitely frustrated and shed quite a few tears. I was ready to send in the application months ago. My DH just processes things differently than I do, and it took him time. Honestly, he will probably never be nearly as excited about this whole process as I am. But when we finally get our child, I know he will love the child with all his heart.
Hopefully, once your DH starts researching adoption he will become more excited. He probably just needs time to process this other route to parenthood.
TTC #2, Operative hysteroscopy March 2011; IVF #1 long lupron protocol April 2011-cancelled due to poor response; IVF #2 flare protocol May 2011=hospitalization due to abdominal hemorrhage during ER and no fert due to MFI issues. Moving onto international adoption from Moldova January 2013!
With our agency, we have to do two trips. The first is 7-10 days to meet the child, and the second is 7-10 days to go to court and make it official. So, we are planning about 20 days off from work for travel. I have about 16 vacation days saved up so far (I accrue 10 hours of vacation time a month at my job and I can accumulate up to 6 weeks before I start losing it).
