Anyone start a sippy around 5 months?

Our son STILL refuses a bottle.  It has been a 5 month struggle to get him to drink from a bottle.  We have tried everything the pedi suggested (others feeding him, tons of bottles and nipple types/materials, super warm milk, cold milk, mommy present, not present...I could go on and on and on and on...)

Anyway, I have been EBFing except for one twice a day where we try any option other than boob to get milk in our little man.  Unfortunately, he's very tiny and we can't make him miss any meals because he's already in the 1 percentile for weight.  

So, this long story is to hear whether you have any suggestions on sippy cups we could try to see if he'll just skip to this method.  My oldest took a bottle fine and transitioned to a straw cup well, too.  I'm just clueless what to buy next!

i introduced the NUK sippy cup around 5.5 months... i took out the valve part out of the lid so he could figure it out and get something out of it...he has been using it independently now for about a week... he also has used the AVENT sippy cups which have more of a nipple texture for the drinking part...

not sure if this helps...but he had no problem with the sippy cup with me showing him and holding it for him to drink out of at the five and a half mark.

My DS will be 7 months tomorrow and I've been trying to give him the Tommy Tippee sippy cup but he can't quite figure it out and just gets frustrated.

As long as you have enough milk (and don't mind some getting spilled or going down the drain), it can't hurt to try it, right?

 

We started LO on a sippy cup with water at 6 months. It took him at least 6 weeks to really get the hang of it and start using it .  Now, he loves the sippy cup...but he mostly just likes to knaw on it and gets less than an ounce.  He definitely isn't drinking it as if it were a bottle/breast...so, I'm afraid it wouldn't be able to replace nursing:(  But, that's just us!

I did with an in-between cup. It was mostly played with, but he got the idea.

We introduced a sippy around 6 months, and DS wants nothing to do with it. However I think it is because he does not know what to do with it. He rarely gets a bottle and refuses to take one when I am around. However I am not to worried. He will get it when he gets it. We will just keep trying.

I gave my DS a sippy at 4.5 months with a little water. He wouldnt take a bottle at all and I worried way too much about what would happen if I couldnt feed him for some reason. I knew eventually he would eat, but I knew it would be torture for him and whoever was taking care of him. 

He doesn't have BM in his sippy very often, but will drink enough to satisfy him. I can get my hair done without worrying! Im a substitute teacher and I've subbed only once for half a day since he was born... without worrying too much! 

Anyways, he likes the nuby sippys and the avent ones 4months+.
