Bedtime time

Hi ladies,

I'm just curious what time you put your babies down for sleep.  Mine usually go down around 8-8:30PM and I see a lot of others put their kids down a lot earlier and was wondering if maybe I should try doing that.  I've got twins and lately their sleeping has been disruptive.  I'm wondering if I'm giving them their dinner/cereal too late at 6:30ish (when I see some other babies are going to sleep) and because they are a little tired they are not eating as much as they should?? Or maybe it's just a phase; I don't know but my little guy keeps waking up at 4:30AM seemingly very hungry whereas before, he was sleeping thru until 6AM.  Also, my baby girl wakes up like clockwork at 5:30-6AM and I'll take her in bed with us so she doesn't wake up her twin brother and she nurses for a few minutes and goes right back to sleep (Any advice for her would be welcomed as well)

So, between having to deal with him at 4:30 and then her at 5:30, my mornings can be quite rough! Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Bedtime time

  • My lo goes to bed between 89 I can't imagine trying to put him down earlier he'd but up at 3 for the day.

  • we have dinner (3-4 oz of a solid, and 2-3 oz bottle) at 5.  Then at 7 we have a nighttime bottle (about 5 oz).  Bath time from 730-745.  Lotion massage, and usually sleeping by 8/815... Then up for the day between 630/7 am.

Sometimes he doesn't go to bed at 8 though, (weekends.... usually around 9)... and honestly... the later he goes down, the earlier he wakes up... don't ask me why/how... but it svcks lol

  • lo goes to bed between 8 and 8:30. I put him in bed awake. That has helped a lot with getting him to sleep longer. He was still waking up at 530 to eat, but it was a comfort feed. He would eat for a minute or two and fall asleep. Since he didn't seem to need the feeding I stopped feeding him at 530. When he woke I would first let him fuss for a few minutes, if he got overly fussy I would go in and rock him for a few minutes. Turn on his music and put him back in his crib. It took about a week, but he now sleeps till 645 or 7.
  • Bedtime is 8pm here too. I've tried to put her down earlier, but she just wakes up at like 5am (which does not make for a happy mommy). Sometimes she goes to bed even later if we do something in the day that throws off her nap schedule. I don't find it an issue.

  • Usually around 9 pm... but I like not getting up at 6.  I'll have to do enough of that when I go back to work in May.

  • He gets his bedtime bottle between 7:30 and 8 and we start his bedtime routine once he finishes. He has a difficult time falling asleep so I hold him until he starts burying his head in my shoulder and then I will rock him until he falls asleep and then put him in his crib. It generally takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour of holding/rocking before he falls asleep, so I guess around 9 is when he gets to sleep.

The last couple nights he's been crashing at 6:45pm so has been waking up at 5:30am. Not loving that!!

DD has been doing the same thing!  She is EXHAUSTED by 645-7!

  • My daughter usually goes to sleep between 7:30-8. It completely depends if it's a daycare day or not. I tend to feed her dinner kind of late 6:45-7ish and then follow it with a story, bath, lotion, bf her and then bed. She has been doing this and sleeping through the night for about 3 months now. I feel like I fill up her tummy right before bed and she sleeps great.
  • Lo was going to bed at 6:45. Over the last week, he's pushed it back and sleeping by 8. Solids at 6. Play til 7. Bedtime routine, then some quiet play time/cuddles. Last feeding at 7:40.

  • My LO has dinner about 5:30ish and then anywhere between 6 and 7pm I start to get him ready for bed.  I always offer a bottle (even if he only takes and ounce or two) after he is in his pj's and ready for bed.  I lay him down and he is usually out by 7 or 7:30 at the latest.  He gets cranky around 6pm so I always know he is ready for bed!  He has an early bedtime and he pretty much set it himself.  He is now waking around 3am for a bottle and will then sleep to 7:30ish on a weekend and I wake him at 6:30 on a weekday before work.
