NBR: Pudding shots? Also, chocolate trifle?

Has anyone made pudding shots before?  Like jello shots, but with pudding.

Some recipes I find say that they come out really liquidy, like a creamy shot, and not like pudding.  Others say that if you fold in a container of cool whip at the end, it fixes that problem.  I was going to try and make a bowl of pudding shots and then use that to layer into a chocolate trifle for a dessert for my Girls' Christmas party on Saturday, but if it's not pudding-y enough, that won't work.

Any advice?

Also, I always make a traditional trifle, with pound cake and fruit and custard - I've never made a chocolate one.  Do I just layer chocolate cake, pudding, and cool whip, or are there other layers I should include?  Crushed oreos or heath bars, maybe?  Or cherries?  I'll take all the advice/ideas I can get.

Thanks!

  • I think adding oreos or heath bars would be awesome.  No to the cherries but I don't like the chocolate/cherry combo.

  • I've never made pudding shots myself, but I've consumed enough of them to know that they're delicious!  They're definitely not liquidy... unless you allow them to sit outside of a fridge or freezer too long.  I have heard of folding in the cool whip, but my friend always makes them, so I'd have to ask her!
