Take N Toss Cups

Spin off of the SIL sippy thread...didn't want to hijack!

Take N Toss were the DDs favorites.  I had tossed all of theirs but recently bought more for DS.  DDs could be very rough with them - drop them getting out of the car, from their high chairs, kick them while playing.  No spills.  The not one but two packs I bought for DS, purchased from different stores, both pop open comparatively super easily.  DS has spilled his every time I have given him one.  Any fall greater than 6 inches pops the top off.  Anyone else have this issue?

I just invested in (yes, I consider it an investment with the cost of these things!) Foogo straw cups and Tommy Tippee valve cups, but was sad not to have the easy, top rack dishwasher safe valve free cups.

  • Now that you say it, yes, I'm experiencing the same dilemma. I thought maybe it was just that DS is more rough with them--he likes to throw things :)

Did you have the ones with the tab to take the top off? They would be much older--at least three years old. Those were the best and the lids were almost too hard to get off (I guess why they had the tab to help open them).

  • The bowls had the tabs on them, I don't think the cups did (this would be going back 6-7 years, I cannot remember when I first discovered them and stopped cosntantly washing the Playtex valve cups).  As a side note, the playtex valves warp in my dishwasher and fall out when in the cup for drinking (into the cup, so no real risk, but it means that liquid comes out fast and spills).  Hoping the cups I bought a better, I should have asked for recs here but BRU sucked me in with a sale!

  • I haven't had this issue - BUT - the 2 packs we have may be older. The one pack was given to us - and they were an unopened hand me down pack (her kids are 3 - so they have to be at least a year or so old). They have the bears embossed on them and the new ones I see in stores are shapes (squares or circles? whatever matches the bowls). Then I bought the disney princess pack at my grocery store - which means they don't sell too many and they may have been there awhile. We also have 3 nuby, a nuk trainer, and a playtex straw. I think we're done for awhile.

  • Every time one of my kids drop them the lid needs fixed.  Usually doesn't pop off all the way, but enough that it will spill if left 1/2 off.
