mid cycle meds???

I was on letrozole 2 pills cd 5-9 and had an ultrasound cd 18 which showed one 12mm follicle. I went back to doctor on cd 22 and had zero follicles (other than small ones) and he said the lining was thin. He said I didn't ovulate based on the lining and no fluid showing ovulation (plus I didn't feel that I did). He told me to take 3 pills of letrozole starting on cd 22 for 5 days and to return on Jan 15. Is there any harm in not waiting for af and starting mid-cycle like that?

From what I understand, if your lining is thin enough and there are no follicles you can start meds again.  Did he say to start on CD22 or does he mean to count the day you start as CD5 since you did not get AF? 

I started a round of injectibles last month without having AF.  My lining was thin and I had no follicles.  We just started over as CD1 the day I had my US.

no he told me to start meds on cd 22 he said when I was in office after the ultrasound "to get the prescription and start today" and to take for 5 days and then come back... It's just odd to me that all these times I've been going there (like a year now) this is the first time I've done mid-cycle meds I've ALWAYS had to wait for af... that's why I'm confused...

hmm, that is a little confusing.  Maybe call and talk to a nurse.

Well I started the meds when I was supposed to and took off work for the 15th so I guess we shall just see.... The research I've seen says there's no medical reason to wait for af... I was just curious if anyone else has been through this where they didn't have to wait.... Thanks Lauren!
