Hi all-
I was going to try and make a few clicky polls out of this, but for some reason TB isn't letting me use the "poll" tab.
Anyway, just curious on the below - we have had lots of issues getting LO down for her nap in time on the weekends, and again at bed time. She just hasn't seemed tired!
1. How many hours (on average) is LO awake in the morning before falling asleep for his or her nap?
2. How many hours (on average) does the nap last?
3. How many hours (on average) is LO awake after his or her nap before falling asleep for the night?
4. How many hours (on average) does LO sleep at night?
I am just curious to see if there's a trend here. LO won't fall asleep until 2:30 or 3:00 for her nap on the weekends and then wants to stay up until 10pm. At daycare she goes down at 1:30 but it seems impossible to get her to sleep that early for us! Then it pushes off the whole night.

Re: Sleep poll - non clicky - hours of awake time before and after nap
G is awake 5-6 hours in the morning before his midday nap (his only nap).
The nap is usually 2-3 hours long.
After that nap he's awake maybe 6 hours before going to bed.
G sleeps around 10 hours at night. It used to be longer but recently he's going through a no sleep phase
Our schedule has been getting later and later too, especially after the holidays. Naps usually happen late afternoon or early evening (i.e. starting anywhere from about 3 or 4 to as late as 6 or 7) and last 1 to 3 hours. Bedtime used to be 9:30 or 10, but post-holidays, he's been wanting to stay up until midnight.
Obviously, we need to work on getting back to an earlier routine.
1. How many hours (on average) is LO awake in the morning before falling asleep for his or her nap? Weekends: 4-5 hours. Weekdays: 6+ hours.
2. How many hours (on average) does the nap last? Weekends: 3-4 hours. Weekdays: I'm thrilled if she gets 2 hours, usually it's closer to 1.5.
3. How many hours (on average) is LO awake after his or her nap before falling asleep for the night? Weekends: 4-5 hours. Weekdays: 5.5+ hours.
4. How many hours (on average) does LO sleep at night? Weekends: 11-12 hours. Weekdays: 10.5 hours.
Her sleep at daycare is awful, at best. She doesn't really get enough sleep during the week, so she takes extra long naps and sleeps in on the weekends to make up for it. I'm trying new hours at work starting this month in order to get her down a half-hour earlier at night to help with her exhaustion.

I really push G to keep to the daycare routine on the weekends, even though those 5 or 6 a.m. wakeups are killer when all I want to do is SLEEP on my day off.
Up at 7am - nap at noon (so 5 hrs awake). Nap 12-2, awake until bedtime at 7:30-8 (about 6 hours awake). Sleeps 10-11 hours at night. Sometimes he only takes 1 hour naps and some days Dad is a sucker and bedtime doesn't happen until 9.
Holy Frick GG! I can not imagine staying up until midnight with LO!
Mon and Tues he is up around 630, nap around noon, up at 3, bed at 9 (goes to IL's for those days)
Wed, Thurs he is up around 730-8, nap between 11-2 (if he naps at all), up between 2-5, bed at 9 (home with daddy)
Friday he is up around 630, nap around 12:15, up around 2, bed at 9 (one day of daycare)
Saturday he is up around 8 or 9, nap around 11-12, up around 2-3, bed at 9 (home with mommy)
Sunday he is up around 6-7, nap around 11-12, up around 2-3, bed at 9 (home with mommy)
He sticks to this pretty well. The days he doesn't have to leave the house are the days he gets to sleep in. For some reason on Wed and Thurs when he is at home with dad he will sometimes refuse to nap at all, probably cause dad is the fun one. I think his one day of DC on Fridays wears him out because he sleeps in later on Saturdays but then he's up at the butt crack again on Sundays.
1. How many hours (on average) is LO awake in the morning before falling asleep for his or her nap?
about 6 hours (6:30am-12:30pm)
2. How many hours (on average) does the nap last?
NOT LONG ENOUGH! Maybe 1.5 hours, very rarely 2.
3. How many hours (on average) is LO awake after his or her nap before falling asleep for the night?
5 hours
4. How many hours (on average) does LO sleep at night?
11ish
PGASTL - I could have written this myself!
I think some of the probelm is that on the weekends, he sleeps in a little extra - from 45 minutes to an hour. So he wants to nap later - or not at all
On Saturday, DH took him to a play gym and worked him out so we figured he'd pass right out at nap time. Nope! He was awake in his room from 100-300 when I finally took him out b/c I didn't want him to sleep from 3-5 and then be awake until 10. So he was extra cranky from 5-630 and fell asleep crying for the night at 645,
Usually he wakes from 630-700, naps from 130-330 (at day care) or 1-4 (at home) and then to sleep for the night around 730-800
My little man at 0-1-2
1. He is awake for about 7-ish hours. 6am-1pm.
2. Naps are usually at least 2 hours, sometimes 3.
3. He's usually only "awake" for 4 hours or less before "bedtime". He wakes up from his nap between 3-4pm and we put him to bed at 7pm no matter what. Sometimes when I look at the video monitor he just lays there and kicks around/plays with blankets, etc until he falls asleep somewhere between 7:30-8pm. But he never cries or fights bedtime - so we just keep putting him down at 7pm.
4. I would say 10-11 hours depending on when he falls asleep at night. He's in bed from 7pm-6am or 6:30am on most days.
btw, we have a somewhat similar situation with our LO, except the night is not as late. See below
1. How many hours (on average) is LO awake in the morning before falling asleep for his or her nap?
At daycare: 7 hrs
At home: 8.5 hrs; recently 9-9.5 because he's been waking up so early
2. How many hours (on average) does the nap last?
At daycare: 1 hr
At home: 2 hrs
3. How many hours (on average) is LO awake after his or her nap before falling asleep for the night?
After daycare nap: 5-6 hrs
After home nap: 4 hrs
4. How many hours (on average) does LO sleep at night?
10-11 hrs
Forgive me if my math is wrong (you follow these figures and they just don't add up). I'm rounding to the nearest hr / guessing and realizing that I might be rounding the same way twice, leading to possibly 23 hrs or 25 or whatever.
It is impossible to get DS down for a nap on weekends and when we were on vacation. He resists and resists and resists. No matter when we try to start. Usually we try sometime a bit after 1pm and he will fall asleep around 2:30. The trying can be as long as or longer than the nap itself. But then he might sleep past 4pm! Then it's so dark when he wakes up and weird. And we feel like we can't put him to bed anywhere close to 7 (his typical / old bedtime) and might put him to bed closer to 8. But at bedtime the struggle doesn't last long if at all. On vacation he skipped naps 3 days in a row. Eventually he was cranky for it, but I did start to wonder if the boy is trying to drop his nap. At daycare they get him down, but only about an hour after every other kid. And he only ONCE slept until the wake-up point at 3pm. He has shorter naps than most kids.
1. How many hours (on average) is LO awake in the morning before falling asleep for his or her nap? 5.5 hours (nap at 12:30)
2. How many hours (on average) does the nap last? 1.5-3
3. How many hours (on average) is LO awake after his or her nap before falling asleep for the night? 5, usually asleep by 8pm
4. How many hours (on average) does LO sleep at night? 11 hours, usually 8pm to 7am
1. How many hours (on average) is LO awake in the morning before falling asleep for nap? Weekdays 6; weekends - up to 7 or 7.5, even 8 if fighting nap
2. How many hours does the nap last? 1-2.5
3. How many hours awake after nap before falling asleep? 5-ish, slightly more weekdays, slightly less weekends, since nap comes later.
4. How many hours does LO sleep at night? 10 hours, we try to get him to sleep by 8 but it's usually 8:30 pm and he wakes by 6:30 or 7 AM.
I wish he slept longer overnight and nap, but he's a stubborn little guy.
2. How many hours (on average) does the nap last? 1.5-2 (wakes between 2-3)
3. How many hours (on average) is LO awake after his or her nap before falling asleep for the night? about 5 hours (bedtime starts between 7:15-7:30)
4. How many hours (on average) does LO sleep at night? about 10-11 (usually wakes around 6:30am)
I will say with all the disruptions to his schedule, visitors coming and going, changing rooms in daycare, 2-year molar teething that this is all in flux. His naps at daycare are currently running 30-60 minutes, with his naps at home going for closer to 3 hours. He's also been sleeping in on the weekends, and staying up talking to himself for up to an hour before falling asleep for his weekend naps.

Jericho hasn't really napped since he was 18 months...though he will sometimes pass out if we are driving.
He usually sleeps 10-12 hours through the night.
Weekends/holidays: sleeps 14-16 hrs at night and refuses to nap at all.
1. How many hours (on average) is LO awake in the morning before falling asleep for his or her nap? 5.5 on average
2. How many hours (on average) does the nap last? 1 hr average
3. How many hours (on average) is LO awake after his or her nap before falling asleep for the night? 6.5 hrs average
4. How many hours (on average) does LO sleep at night? 10 hrs average
So approx:
Wake: 6 am
nap: 12-1
bedtime: 8 pm
bedtime used to be 7:30 sharp, but he's been fighting bedtime for the past 2 months or so. So, by the time he's finally down & out it's about 8 pm.
1. How many hours (on average) is LO awake in the morning before falling asleep for his or her nap? 4.5-5
2. How many hours (on average) does the nap last? 1.5-2.5
3. How many hours (on average) is LO awake after his or her nap before falling asleep for the night? Lately it's been like 7 :-/
4. How many hours (on average) does LO sleep at night? Usually 10 - 11
He has been waking between 8:30-9, naps like 1:30-3:30 and then I lay him down at 9 pm but most nights it is 10-10:30 before he is actually asleep. The bedtime fighting has gotten out of control. He doesn't cry or anything, just doesn't sleep. And keeping him up later doesn't help. I tried laying him down at 9:30 and he was up til 11. It's almost like he just needs a LONG wind down.

2. About 2
3. About 5 (But lately we can't get her to sleep until 10:30 or 11:30, so it is closer to 6-7.)
4. 11-12
