Checklist for safety/grooming?

Is there a good checklist of all the first-aid, meds and grooming to have on hand for a newborn? And how do you figure out which brands to buy?

Re: Checklist for safety/grooming?

  • I'm not sure about a list, but we didn't need nearly as much as I thought we would.  What we ended up using in the first year:

First Aid: digital thermometer, nose aspirator (will give you in the hospital-ask for extra), and the syringe-type medicine droppers (nice to have a few, and ask for some when picking up prescriptions).  A general first aid kit (gauze in difft sizes, band aids, neosporin, etc. is good to have on hand).

Meds: You shouldn't give anything at all the first few months.  When approved by your pedi, infant tylenol, gas drops/gripe water, and teething tablets.  Also nice to have saline drops for nose and vapor rub (but can't use rub until older).

Grooming: Soft bristle baby brush or comb, safety nail clippers, infant nail files.

Circumcision care: aquaphor or neosporin and some gauze pads (but pedi/hospital will probably provide)
