Eczema: What do you use?

I have tried everything with E's eczema and it's not getting better. I plan to mention it to her pediatrician at her appointment coming up, but what is everyone else using? I feel so bad when I look at her red chapped cheeks and chin.

Re: Eczema: What do you use?

  • Have you tried cutting out foods? Obviously not all food, but you know what I mean. My former nanny kid had it horribly and also had persistent yeast infections starting at 9mo. They tried everything and it was so bad her skin would bleed. Finally after a year of dealing with it, they started eliminating different foods one at a time. As it turns out, it was wheat/gluten. They cut it out...all of the problems went away. She just turned 8 and if she eats so much as a cracker, the eczema comes back. But if she stays away from it, she is fine.

  • DD has eczema and we tried everything. The only thing that works for us is hydrocortisone.

  • My daughter hasn't had any, but my son (3.5) had it. A huge improvement came from switching all bath products over to Burt's Bees Baby Bee products. We use the cortizone eczema cream on eczema patches, or just regular hydrocortisone cream.

  • Neosporin eczema products!!! We use the moisturizing cream and also the hydrocortisone cream on really bad spots. It helps much more than aveeno or Vaseline.

ETA we also use plain cetaphil in the bath at pedis suggestion.

  • We use a babyganics product (in a tub, similar to Vaseline) when it gets really bad, but only at night and we have to slather it on and then get pjs on right away because it's very sticky. But having it on for 12+hrs really does a world of good.

During the day if they get itchy I use babyganics eczema cream. It's not as soothing as the other stuff, but it's easier to manage and less messy.
