Potty training questions

My DD is 2 1/2 and we' re working on potty training. We had a big talk about it and pumped up the idea to her, had a grand time picking out big girl panties, and  put her potty seat on the toilet.  the first day went great. She was eager to go and try and I felt like we were making decent progress. She was successful in going both tee tee and poo poo on the potty. Now, several days into this, she refused to go and actually asked for a diaper. She looked scared and was shaking and crying, so I gave her the diaper. She promptly went. I didn' t scold her because I actually felt bad for her. We' ll see how she does tomorrow, but I was curious if anyone else's child seemed afraid after having been successful.

 She goes back to preschool on Tuesday and if she isn't over the fear, I am contemplating sending her in diapers even though I know that may undo any progress  made. Thoughts? Suggestions? Encouragement? Thanks y'all.

You know her best but if she seems afraid I'd back off and try again in a few weeks. Every one I know who pushed it had a bad time.
