IVF Consult Monday...

We have our IVF Consult monday with our doctor. (our nurse recently recommended we bypass more IUI's because of such low sperm counts/motility etc...

I thought I would check and see if there is anything specific we should ask. Also - if you have any feedback on what to expect?

Before we sat down to go over our cycle with our IVF coordinator, we had already spoken to the woman in the business office about all the payment protocols and options. We went over how the shared risk program worked, how much to store and freeze embies, costs of single fresh and FET cycles were, etc. This did not include anything about meds and such.

When we sat down with our IVF coordinator about a week before I began Lupron, she was able to give us figures on approx. med costs based on our protocol, a timeline for the cycle, she went over all the ethical paperwork-- donating embies, research studies our clinic was conducting, what would happen to our embies when we were finished building our family. Things like ICSI, assisted hatching, and the like were also gone over.

My clinic does the actual med class the day you begin injects, so that was covered later.

ETA: Don't be afraid to speak up about specific questions you have about MFI and if you can freeze and bank some sperm so you have multiple samples to use on ER day.

Hi! We had our IVF consult last week. It is a lot of information at once, especially getting the medication schedule. Don't hesitate to ask the RE or nursing team for clarification if something is confusing! That is what they are there for.

I asked about embryo freezing costs. Costs of freezing can vary depending on your RE. Ours requires a down payment and $80 per month storage fee. Glad we asked about this ahead of time.

Not sure where you are from, but I also asked about weather closings. I live in New England and with my luck, we will get a blizzard the day of ER or ET. I've heard that some offices will close in the event of bad weather - something to think about depending where you live.
