DH is doing a belly cast on me when he gets off work tonight! He wanted to do one when we were KU with DS but I got BAD pre e and was on bed rest and so swollen that anytime someone touched me I had craters left on my skin. Needless to say we decided putting plaster on the swollen belly and leaving painful craters was not a good idea. But this time we are doing great and he is so excited to finally get to do one. We are using plaster strips and DH will paint it once it dries (he is a very good artist). Anyone done this? Should I stand or sit while we do it? Any tips?

I didn't do a belly cast, but I remember doing something similar in art class in middle school with our faces.
I'd stand if I were you and I'd also make sure to put something protective on your belly first, like vaseline.
This.
LOL, we are a bit odd anyways I guess but we will hang it up probably. I don't think it would work in everyone's home but in ours it does. I'm probably more the odd one then you...haha. Most people would probably feel the same way as you. You can also make bowls from belly molds and that is a good option for those who want something like this but not a big belly casting to hang up. You could put pretty yarn or decorative balls just like any bowl I guess. They have some like that on this board https://pinterest.com/crystaldriedger/belly-casting/
For us though we are not conservative I suppose and we have some pieces in our home that are "interesting" to some but they mean a lot to us. Our home is very much a reflection on who we are and we have a mix of the expected with some unexpected touches so no one would be surprised to see a belly cast that is painted by my husband hung up. We have a space where my husband hangs his canvas art work up (like his own art gallery) and he said he could see rearranging it so this piece is in the middle, that is in our music/art/craft room. We also have an out of the way nook in the hall that is empty and needs something special and I could see it there. Nothing front and center...more of an unexpected place that still shows it off in an understated way.
My friend has hers hung in her bedroom and its very pretty, she is a doula and had a home birth in her bedroom so it is a sweet memento and no one is ever surprised to see it there since she is so into pregnancy/birth. I don't really want mine in my bedroom though.
