I'm a Kathryn... I grew up being Kathy... in high school/college I changed it to Kat and now, as an adult, I'm back to Kathryn... So I like Kat, my husband does not.

Growing up I hated it when people called me Kate, Katie, or Kathy (still do hate it). I always just went by Katherine. When people insisted they call me something else I told them Kat was the only acceptable alternative.

I actually think it's cute. I would probably call her that at home but let the school and rest of the world use her full name or Kate.

I grew up with the prettiest most elegant "older" girl who went by Kat. So I have always thought it was so cool

My H loves Kittie/Kitty as a nickname for Catherine/Katherine. It does sound great with our last name.
