Cloth Diapering

Doh! Moment

So I was getting ready in the bathroom this morning, and I wondered to myself, "Is there an un-paper towel equivalent for Kleenex?" Doh! Handkerchiefs.

Re: Doh! Moment

  • I've been making hankies for myself and DD. I haven't found a material that I'm 100% happy with in terms of absorbency and softness (seriously, who wants to continuously rub their face with anything less than a super soft material) yet, but I'm trying bamboo velour next. If you make or buy any and really really love the material please let me know! Smile

  • My dad has always just used the regular white hankies you buy at Walmart or Penney's. He's a tough old buzzard though, so he might not be picky about the material.

  • Yeah, those are too harsh for me. I'm the kind of person who buys the "Aloe aloe aloe and more aloe" Kleenex and still am unhappy with how rough them are. I even am trying to come up with a way to make my aloe a sprayable solution to use with my hankies. Plus, super sensitive skin runs in my family. Especially right now, A and I have been sick FOREVER it seems like, and her poor little nose is like a faucet. If I'm going to be wiping her nose pretty much nonstop it's gotta be gentle!

Yeah...I've had an awful cold the last few days and used some of DH's to try to be green. They are *not* soft. I am back to Kleenex for now.

Yes, I meant to lol and then I got excited about Kleenex.

Glad to be good for the laugh. I've been running on about as minimal sleep as a human can have to still stay alive, and I swear sometimes I re-read the stuff I post and wonder if people think I've been drinking.

    Whats what I've always assumed.

Werent you the one asking if 9 am is too early for wine lol

No no no no no! I was the one ENCOURAGING wine at 9 am. After all, mommy hours are different. I personally haven't had much to drink since TTC. Although, for my sister's surprise 30th birthday party I did knock back two or three glasses of champagne before karaoke. A still nurses (and frequently) so no booze for me. Drinks

  • I made some out of an old bed sheet (400 ct, 100% cotton). Those are pretty soft especially because the sheets were over 5 years old, and the fitted sheet got a rip in it.

I also have some jersey I've used, and it's super soft and more absorbent than the sheet ones. But both are much softer and don't hurt your nose when your blowing it a gazillon times a day.

I have made little bins for the "clean" and "dirty" ones so they are a one time use thing. Versus hankies that people carry one around all day. So the absorbency doesn't haven't to be too great.
