Re: ***Nita***

  • Thanks for asking. I got the all clear this Thursday and relapsed last night I just spend 12 hours in the ER. This crap doesn't seem to end.

  • Noooo!!! I'm sorry Nita. I relapsed once, too. Like I said before, they tried a bunch of different antibiotics and I had to be on oral antibiotics for 6 weeks after the IV ones were finished. Have they changed their plan? Are you staying on IV antibiotics longer? Apparently breast bacteria is effing FIERCE.

I hope you are feeling better soon. Hang in there!

  • Well, you would think they did but no. The stupid squirt of a resident thinks we should give it time and stay on the meds they gave me. You know, the ones which did not work. He also doesn't think I have thrush, even though it is pretty much obvious. So my plan now is to hang on til Tuesday morning. I have a well visit with the boys at our doctor who will diagnose and treat me. Also, I will not go back to that hospital again.
We did an u/s and there is no abscess. There were, however 7 knots in the ducts. But, you know, time and rest. The idiot did actually think that possible. So....family doctor it is. And I will call my OB too. Maybe he can see me on Monday.

It sucks hard. I mean, after pulling the IV they said if I feel anything, I should go back into the ER and NOT wait til it is crazy again.

Well, resident disagrees. No other doctor available, so we will have to wait it out.

I really want to hurt someone.

  • That makes me want to throat punch that doc. I'm so glad it's not abscessed, but Tuesday is a long time to be miserable. I remember at one point telling my DH that I would rather have another med-free labor and delivery than live another 12 hrs with mastitis.

    Sometimes, doctors are so ridiculous.

  • Resident. I do not like them. They often think they know stuff and don't.

I hear you on the pain. BeforeBig A was cut out, I had 45 hours of active labour and 43 of those were pain med free as well. I would gladly take that over mastitis any day and twice on Sundays.

My LC massaged it today and stripped it. Now THAT was painful. But she unblocked at least three ducts which drained spontaneously. But hell. That is a feeling I wouldn't need ever again.

  • Yep, just because they finished med school does NOT make them the shiz.

Holy crap. I do not even want to think about what stripping a duct entails. DH and I are gearing up for another IVF to TTC #2, and I'm seriously traumatized by my BF experience. I know I will try again, but I am absolutely terrified of getting mastitis again.

Hope you are able to rest a little bit. Did the LC comment on thrush? Are you still able to BF Little A or have you been pumping?

  • Oh, I EP anyways, so there is at least no worry about taking bottles and such. We keep saying that with number three, I may actually nurse and that I get there gradually.

Good luck to you for the next round of IVF! And don't be afraid of mastitis, at least this time you will be able to catch it early.
