Just wondering if anyone has seen this documentary/movie. Was at a Screening this week. The cameras follow 4 teenage girls adopted from China in the earliest years of Chinese adoption as they share their feelings, where they think they belong and follows one of the girls as she goes back to China and is able to locate her birth family. The widely perceived notion is that you will not be able to find out much of anything.
DD is 10 and adopted from China. After much careful thought, I decided to take her to see the movie. We had traveled back to China a few years ago and visited her orphanage, was able to meet her Foster Mother and read her files and visit her finding site so my daughter has already had a lot of the "missing pieces" filled in.
This was a powerful movie and makes me wonder why some kids seem to be so drawn to finding out about their past and for others, it's just not that important. Also, the word "abandonment" flowed throughout the 90 minutes. Have to admit those were very awkward moments for me as we never talk about her being abandoned or left, but rather, when she was found.
It was impossible to not be moved by the girls speaking so openly about their feelings. Might be of interest to IA folks.

Re: Somewhere Between
Would love to see it but I can't seem to find it anywhere in Los Angeles... I'll search
Thanks for the head's up.
I think you pondering why some feel drawn to their roots can be seen in non-adoption world too... for some people roots and history help define who they are and others could care less. Human nature, perhaps? Of course it's more complex w/adoption.
