Pregnant after 35

Pulsing in lower right abdomen

I'm only a little more than 12 weeks along, and I experienced a strong and rapid pulsing in my lower right abdomen today. It seems to me that it's far too early for me to be able to feel the actual baby moving around--even though the baby was very active in my last ultrasound, kicking and waving, etc. Any idea what this pulsing feeling might be? Have any of you experienced it?

Re: Pulsing in lower right abdomen

  • I have felt that pulsing sensation often and throughout my whole body.  Its your own pulse and I was told it is because of the increased blood flow during pregnancy.  It can feel so loud somtimes.  I agree its probably too early to feel movement.

  • People say that it's possible to feel movement this early although not common. More common w/ second pregnancies.

  • As ShellBear said, it may actually be your own pulse. Your blood volume is increasing quite a bit and people often report feeling like their blood is pounding or something similar. When I went in for my NT scan at 12 weeks, the tech actually showed me a large blood vessel of mine that was pulsing away down near the baby (I think she said it was the bottom end of the aorta).
