Grad school student thinking about TTC while in school

Both my husband and I are 31. We were thinking of TTC later this year, however I have also started a PhD program and probably won't be finished for another 3 years. I know of other graduate students going through their programs while pregnant and with a newborn, but I do not know anyone personally.  I'd love to connect with someone on a board who can tell me how they handled some of the additional challenges of going through a graduate program while pregnant. How and when did you tell your profs/advisors you were pregnant? Did you deliver before or after your dissertation? What were some of the challenges you faced?

I was 17 weeks pregnant when I defended my thesis.  It was hard, becuase I was so tired at the time, but it all worked out just fine.  I told no one until the last slide of my presentation! ( I thought the shock might deflect some of the questions I didn't want to answer.)
