  • I have a general studies AA. I am one semester away from a bachelors in business (boring). I also went to school for Chemical Dependency Counseling but never did the internship I need to graduate/ become licensed. I was in school full and part time off and on for like 7 years. I have no idea what any of it cost, I never paid for any of it. MH however we owe about 30K for his bachelors which he can't do sh!t with in this area/economy. I am hoping grants cover his mortuary science/embalming certifications and AA so he can get another freakin job.
  • Im looking at medical assistant... either a certificate or Associate.

    52 vs 72 credits

    19,200 vs 35,000

Have you looked at your local community college?  You could probably get grants to cover the whole cost especially with the health and manpower credits.

  • I have a BA in psychology. I went out of state (live in NJ & went to NC), so it was about 30K/year. I also have 2 MA's (one in teaching and the other in school counseling). Those were in-state and were about 20K/year. I am a teacher, so needless to say, I still have a lot of student loan debt. I'm hoping to pay it off before P goes to college :o(

  • I have a bachelors in Biology with a Marine Science concentration from a private liberal arts school that at the time was around $26K a year. I don't know how many credits total it was, but I took 12-15/semester x 8 semesters = about 112 credits.

My masters is in coastal sciences. It took 2 years and far fewer credits and was free and they payed me a $19k stipend.

Yes Ive contacted them a bunch of times. Im still waiting on a actual live person to contact me back. I sent in my admission papers last week.

They are cheaper by about 8 thousand.

They were probably closed until this past Wednesday so you probably won't hear anything until next week since they have to process everything. I would definitely try to go that route and if you ever want to get your bachelors as long as you graduated with a 2.5 you're guaranteed acceptance to any state school. You may have to wait until the fall to start a program because even if they have a spring session it's probably full and you probably missed the orientation.

  • Yeah i just hasseled the program manager they start classes on jan 14th.
I looked it up and for a AAS with my local collehe it wull actual be about 12000. I just wish that someone contacted me before the holidays.

Pretty sure i cannot do placemsnt testing and finicial aid in a week but ill try

  • I have a BS in Math and a Masters in Education. I think the BS was around 134 credits. I honestly am not sure. It cost around $4000 a semester. That was for tuition, room and board, and books. My Masters, I am not sure because my district paid for it.

     BA in Theater.  I think I took 16 units a quarter, 3 quarters a year, 4 years...so that would be 192?  16k a year, so $64k

    grad school:

JD.  I have absolutely no idea how many credits since it was more class based than credit based.  That was $43k a year, so $129k

  • What did you go to college for?? Nursing.

    AAS, bah, certificate??? A bachelors

How many credits?? I think 126, but could have been more.

How much was it? I owed $22,000 total. It was ~$5,000 a semester, but I got a lot in financial aid too. I went to an in-state school.

  • I have a BS and a PhD in Biology. I don't know how many credits I took for either. I think I took 1618/semester in college. I had a partial academic scholarship otherwise my bachelor's would have been 30k/year. I had stipends for the most part through grad school and thankfully have no debt.

  • I have a master's degree in speech-language pathology.  At a state university, it was approximately $1000/credit hour. I'm not sure about the credits, but I'm thinking it was 9-10K/semester

I'm a CMA. In my area there aren't any associates programs in medical assisting. It's only certification through a trade school or community college. My program was almost 6 months long 40 hours a week, including internship. Total cost was $7000.

  • BA in Business management and Marketing. I also have my certification in massage therapy. I'm not sure on the credit hours, but I took night classes at a private college for 340 per credit hour. Massage Therapy program was around 7,000.

  • My BA was a combination English Lit and History with a concentration in Medieval Studies. Oh so useful. Luckily I opted to go to school in Canada so as Woodsie said it cost about $5-6,000/year, not including board. I paid my loan off when I was 29.  I also have a Masters in Music Theory which cost $10,000. I was able to pay in cash all except the last three classes which are sitting on my credit card gaining interest.

Holy shiiiit, 129k... That is crazy! I couldn't imagine.
I have a 4 year bachelor of Human Ecology. It was about 6000 a year, however I pissed away the first 2 years of university so you can add another 12000 wasted on me partying. Thankfully my mom and dad payed for it, so I left university with no loans!

Oh ok. We have the associates in health sciences here too. When you complete it you can test to become an LPN. Or you can go on to the bachelors and become an RN. It's definitely a great field. I loved being a CMA before having DS. It was fun, and rewarding. Plus I was lucky to get a position in a specialty field so the money was really good. I may go back for nursing eventually too if I'm able.

  • I have a BS in Elementary Education, i went for 5 years, b/c I transferred schools within the UMaine system and the requirements were different. at my first school it was about 11K/year, at the school I graduated from it was about 7-8K/year. I graduated with $13K in loans total though the rest was grants/scholarships. Now I'm back and this 1 year is going to cost me like 9K I think, it might only end up being 5.5K.
