Dominic is doing so well, they kicked him out of the low birth weight room and moved him in with the open crib babies. The last room he will be in until he comes home! He is still in his isolette but he keeps his temperature up well when his dad and I hold him. We get to hold him for hours!! We started practicing breastfeeding before we had to come back home on Sunday and he did really well latched on his first try. But the poor guy had a stuffy nose so he was breathing through his mouth and once he latched he couldn't breath so well so he got mad. Going to try again when we get back on friday.
He is still on the cannula and his oxygen stays pretty consistent between 25 and 30 percent. He is a total binky baby and loves to be swaddled on his tummy. He has a lot to say to his nurses during his cares, but other than that does a lot of sleeping and growing.
He has also gained a whole pound since he was born, weighing in at 3 lbs 2 1/2 oz. They keep upping feeds almost everyday, he's now eating 27 mls, just under an oz every 3 hours. He loves food just like mom and dad lol. The nurse told me that he always wants more but they of course have to take it slow. I am so proud of my little boy, he is doing so wonderful.
Being away from him is hard but I know he is in the best hands possible and having you ladies to talk to helps a lot too. Thank you all so much.
