E2 levels on follistim?

Hi ladies,

I'm new to the injection world.  I have taken 4 doses of 150iu follistim since Sunday.  I went in for ultrasound today (CD7) and he measured 4 follies so far, but he said he only counts the biggest ones this early in the cycle.  He originally said we'd stay at 150iu unless the E2 came back higher than he wanted.  (I have responded poorly to clomid for 4 cycles).  He said he wanted a level more than 100 but definitely not higher than 500.

They called a few hours ago and said I need to decrease the dosage to 100iu for 4 more days, then check again on Monday.  The E2 level was 390.  I've searched some previous threads on here and 390 is sounding high for CD7.  My fear, of course, is overstimming and having to cancel the cycle.

Ladies with experience, what was your first E2 level?  Ease my fears a bit.  Maybe I'm just overly sensitive because I'm so used to not growing follies very well and now this seems to be kinda working... change of pace.

Re: E2 levels on follistim?

  • I skipped injectables with IUI, but for my first e2s with some of my clomid cycles I ranged from 75-150 approx.  My RE liked to see levels of 200 per mature follicle before doing IUI.

  • It sounds like you are off to a good start. Try not to over think dosage changes too much. They would rather you not overstim anyway, so a lower dose for an "extra" day or two is better than risking possible overstim at a higher dose, IMHO.

  • I'm just doing injects for the first time (for my first IVF cycle) but I've had high e2 before with Clomid. It got up over 1,000. I can't remember the exact number but I proceeded with IUI. There's always the possibility of needing to cancel but I wouldn't get too stressed over it. You're lowering your dosage so as not to overstim. That's great!

this!!! I over stimmed last month on Follistim and my e2level after 3 days was 1600!!! I was taking 225iu. This cycle we lowered to 75 (see soggy for full treatment) and last e2 was at 310.
