I like the name, but only pronounced "call-in." I hate it pronounced like "colon" like your intestines. I would default to the first pronunciation, especially with the double "L" - but curious what others' first reaction is?
I would say Coll- in. Coll, like the the first syllable of collar.
I would not say Call- in. Like call in sick to work?
Maybe this varies by region?
Funny, this is the same sound to me?
At any rate, the "collar" sound is what I was going for. And yes, the Colin Powell reference is what made me hesitate. But I think that's because his is spelled with one L. Sounds like spelling it with two L's gets the desired pronunciation. Whew!

LOL- it's totally regional then! I think you are OK.

Lol. I agree, it has to be regional. That's funny to me because "call" and "coll" as in "collar" are two totally different sounds.
Neither. Definitely not coal-in though. Call-in sounds like cawl-in when I say it more like cahl-in. Or like the other poster mentioned a short 'o' like in 'hot'.
I don't think this name is in danger of being mispronounced. People say names differently because of their accents, but that is not mispronouncing it.
Colin Powell is the exception, not the rule, when pronouncing this name.
Both Colin and Collin are typically pronounced "Kah-lin". "Koh-lin" is a secondaring pronounciation but very rare.
I wouldn't worry about people pronoucing this name like Koh-lin (or colon since that is the bad association). Even with Powell being a pretty popular public figure, I think most people assume that Colin/Collin is Kah-lin.

call-in with 2 Ls
coal-in with 1 L (like Colin Powell)
I believe Colin Powell does, but that pronunciation would never be my first instinct.

This.
I know three Colin's who all pronounce it call-in. I think Colin Powell is a SS. Either spelling would be call-in to me.
