Our girl name is Elizabeth, so I've thought about this a lot. Ellie is probably my favorite NN, despite its popularity, but we won't use it because a friend of ours has a daughter Elizabeth who they call Ellie. I also don't really like Liz a whole lot. I do like Libby but DH hates it and doesn't think it makes sense as a NN for Elizabeth. In the end, I think we will end up using Lizzie.
PCOS with long, irregular cycles First round of Clomid in May 2012= BFP #1, DD born January 2013 BFP #2 in January 2014, DS born September 2014
I love Liz. Elizabeth nn Liz (DH would call her Lizard ) is on our short list for phantom DD #2
Do we have the same DH? My DH also wants to call our theoretical daughter Lizard. In fact, I think it's probably one of the main reasons he even likes the name Elizabeth, lol!

ETA: I think maybe Libby reminds me of flabby, and that's why I don't like it.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
I like Ellie or Liz. I knew a girl in college that was Elizabeth and always went by Liz, then one day she just changed it to Elle. It was so weird, but I guess that was what her dad always called her.
I love Eliza, but not necessarily as a nickname for Elizabeth. I think we may end up using Eliza as a given first name. I still kind of like it for Elizabeth, and aside from that, I like Liz.
I'm an Elizabeth and I despise ALL shortenings of my name. LoL. My nickname growing up (and still to this day for family and close friends) is Biz, and that's only because my grandpa used to call me "Busy Bear" and THAT got shortened to Biz. In school and my professional life, I prefer to go by my whole name.
No more TTC for us. We are done, and at peace, as a family of 4.

I prefer the Elisabeth spelling just because it's not as common but still accepted. I actually know an Elizabeth who goes by Lisa, which I've always liked even though Lisa is an acceptable given name too.
I don't think I have a favorite, but I like them all. Elizabeth is on our list because it has so many NN options (plus is beautiful on its own). We can wait to pick what NN suits a phantom DD#2, and she can change her mind later.
In one of the Anne of Green Gables books (one of the last couple written), Anne meets a girl named Elizabeth who calls herself by a different NN depending on her mood. Like she is Betty when she is happy and Liz when she is sad (probably not the right combos, but just to illustrate). I thought that was kind of cute, though Elizabeth was on my list long before I read that.
Re: Favorite nickname for Elizabeth?

Hate Libby. It just sounds gross to me.

I'm not a fan of any flavor of Liz.
DD2 is Betsy. Formal name is Elizabeth but we've called her Betsy from day one. Betsy is now shortened to Bets...
We love it!
