OK, I've noticed a few new dads on here, so a rehash of how this works... 5 things, some are answers to questions, the rest things about your life you want to share. Here we go.
1) What did you do for New Years? Was it fun?
2) Any New Years resolutions?
3 - 5 are you.
Re: 5 Thing Thursday
1) What did you do for New Years? Was it fun?
Stayed home. My wife went to sleep at 9 as she tends to do since pregnant. I stayed up, went upstairs at 11:58, turned the TV, my wife woke to see the ball drop, gave her a kiss... let her fall back asleep and I watched about a hour more of TV and went to bed. Fun? I don't know if I'd go that far. My wife needed the sleep, but it would have been more enjoyable had I gotten to spend more of the night with her.
2) Any New Years resolutions?
No, not really. They hardly ever stick past a week or two for a great deal of people, so I don't bother. I just have goals that I try to attain all the time such as, pay off debt, be a more patient dad, things of that nature... I don't need a new year to try to do those things.
3) As of Tuesday, I can officially say my wife is due next month... 8 weeks on Tuesday to be precise. I still don't know where the time went and it is kinda hard to wrap my head around the fact that we will be a family of 4 in 8 short weeks, if not sooner.
4) This past week has not been a good one on the health front. I had a stomach bug on Christmas, my wife had it a few days later and then my son got sick... he's currently on his meds for a spot of pneumonia.
5) I'm looking forward to the quiet time of year for my job. All I have until May is Super Bowl week and right around Easter... the rest isn't too bad.
1) What did you do for New Years? Was it fun?
Friends of ours had a party. We had a great time. It was nice not having to worry about drinking since I had my DD.
2) Any New Years resolutions?
Resolutions not so much. I have some projects around the house that I've been putting off and need to finally do them. I do want to make my very erratic exercise schedule more consistent. I suppose that is like a resolution.
3) We have an annual Super Bowl party. I'm trying to decide what the main dish will be but I"m stuck. In the past I've done pulled pork and brisket. I'm thinking about doing another pork shoulder, but I'm not sold on it yet. I was thinking about some nice brats and sausages but I don't want to be cooking during the game.
4) I had the post about the registry. Getting baby stuff has gone way up in importance since Christmas. A lot of planning for the nursery as well. I have a feeling time is about to fly now that we are in the 2nd half of the pregnancy.
5) I've been very bored at work since coming back after the holidays. I need to get in gear before people notice.Correction, I went to bed at 10 which is a rare change from my 9pm bedtime and I wish you would have said something I would have stayed up with you goober.
Much Love babe
1) What did you do for New Years? Was it fun?
We just hung out with friends, the host is actually 9 months pregnant and a few other people had kids so their nursery was really put to use. Our kid was the only one awake at midnight so we got to ring in the New Year with him. BUT we were crazy tired so at 12:01 we packed up, got in the car and drove home. My son slept hard on the way home and we left him in this car seat to sleep for 3 hours! My wife and I get to cuddle for the first time in almost 4 months! I forgot how nice she smells and how soft she is. :-)
2) Any New Years resolutions?
Um, I haven't really thought about it. I'm a gym rat so fitness is always on my radar. I would like to tackle my first half marathon, but no timeline on that one. Half of me thinks it would be a bad idea all together to put my body through that run. I can do 6 miles easy, but the stress on a repaired knee just for kicks doesn't seem smart. I guess we will see. I would love a new job, but that's not a resolution, I'm just over my current job. Well, there you have it, no resolutions....just some plans.
3) My son giggled for the first time this week. It was awesome, especially since I made him do it. His feet are always smelly...not sure why, but whenever I change him I like to tease him and make faces and this week he thought it was hilarious! I should probably seriously get his feet checked out, the kid is under 4 months and his feet smell worst than an adult, but as long as he is laughing at his ole man, all is forgiven.
4) I mentioned this earlier, but I'm stoked because my wife and I cuddled together in our bed for the first time since we bought home our LO. For the first few weeks he would only sleep being held so we split the day one person upstairs and the other downstairs so we could get some sleep. Now we co-sleep because it's the only way he sleeps 3-5 hour stretches. He will give us 30-40 minutes in his crib, but at night we rather go the long haul and try to be able to function in the AM. But on 1/1/13 I cuddled with my wife...it's only a matter on time before we get to first base. I'm excited about that one.
5) My parents are coming in town this weekend and meeting their grandson for the first time. I'm excited cause I don't get to see them often and I know they are crazy excited too! My wife, not really excited. I guess in-laws can always bring a little stress, but her mom lives 7 blocks away and I deal with her daily, so my wife can suck it up for 4 days. BOOM!
You are 7 months preggo and need the sleep far more than I needed 2 hours of companionship. I still got my kiss in at midnight, so got the important part.
Cause I like it when your eyes bug out..... I'm 8 months pregnant sweetie.
1) Went to friends place to game until the ball dropped.
2) Try to drop 30 pounds this next year. Dropped 32 this year at my lowest but gained 12 back.
3) My 19 month old is starting to follow directions better.
4) Working on his I am done with this so I am going to throw it.
5) Glad to have a good job.
1) My wife and I decided to stay home for NYE. We ordered Chinese food, watched crappy TV, and played Mario Kart Wii. I have to say, it was one of my favorite NYE.
2)I don't really have any New Year's Resolutions. I fully believe that if you want something bad enough you don't wait for something as arbitrary as New Year's to go after it. But, please don't think I look down on anyone who makes a resolution. It's just my own personal philosophy and I never force my view on anyone else.
3) I'm scared to become a "real" father. I dated a girl in my past and she had a little guy. I think I did great with him. I'm terrified that I'm going to screw up my own kid though.
4) I'm also thrilled to become a "real" father. The part of me that isn't terrified knows I'm going to be the kind of father that I would've always wanted for myself.
5) I find myself on the verge of tears whenever a really poignant song comes on the radio now. I mean, I've always been a little more emotional than it might appear if you were to look at me, but now that my wife is pregnant, it's even worse. Case in point: I teared up whenever "Father of Mine" by Everclear came on. Now? I have to turn it off or I'll be bawling....
1) What did you do for New Years? Was it fun?
We took our 2 boys to one of my good freind's house to have dinner with them and their 2 daughters. It was fun to watch my son interact with them. He plays with other kids great! My wife took advantage of extra hands with our newborn so she had a couple glasses of wine while my frined and I sip on a couple Gin and Tonics. Since we both have small kids, we left around 8 and was home in bed by 10. The life of parents now. Nothing like times before kids,
2) Any New Years resolutions?
I just want to get back into my routine before kids. I used to run at least 4 days per week. I know it will be a little tricky with a wife and 2 kids but my wife and I are committed to gettin back in shape. We both started a few weeks ago but then Christmas and our oldest birthday came along and we took a mini break. So we are now back and committed. It all starts tomorrow with a 45 minute run in the morning.
3) My wife is in the process of looking for work so she can stay home with the boys during the day and work at night. So far she has found a part-time job to work online tutoring. We are so thankful that she is tenured teacher and she allowed to take an extended leave to help raise our boys.
4) My boys are so funny to me. My oldest is a ball of energy who crashed and burns when he is done. The youngest just likes to watch everybody esp his older brother. He cracks up watching his brother and actually tries to engage him and speak to him.
5) BCS Championship Monday! I'm so "Roll Tide". Ive always liked them all the way back to the Gene Stallings Era back in the early 90s. I know there is a large Notre Dame consensus out here but I want to see history as to Bama wining 3 National Championships in 4 years. Hasnt been done since the mid 90s Nebraska! Like N.Y. Jets Bart Scott said a few years after the Jets beat the Patriots in the playoffs "CANT WAIT!!!"
And there are those of us that hope that somehow both teams are forced to forfeit. I won't be watching the title game for the 2nd year in a row because I can't stand to see either team win it.
Im sorry you feel that way. Hopefully onjce they start the 4-team tournmanent in 2014 that may help with the problems with BCS system.
Mine has a clear screan so I can close him in when it gets cold. I've taken him out in the 30s and it stays pretty warm in there. I haven't gone down to the 20s yet.
Mine doesnt have a screen...i wish i did cus i would def use that to my advantage. I might start real early like 5am when both kids are still sleeping.
I don't have a problem this year with who is playing for the championship based on the merit of this season. I'm just tired of the SEC and never liked Notre Dame.
