Adoption

fundraising ideas

Hi there, my DH and I are in the process of filling out our application.  I have been reading how some people fundraise for their adoption and was wondering if you guys could give me some tips/ideas on what to do for fundraisers for this.  Also what point in the process is a good time to do this?

Thanks!

Re: fundraising ideas

  • Two of my friends held 5k's and it was a blast. They made shirts that were covered in the registration fee and there were cookies at the finish line. Water bottles were donated from a local grocery store. They did have to get approval from the city but that was the only leg work they had in the process.

  • We have done a few things: sold homemade peanut butter eggs at Easter ($250 profit), had an online silent auction of donated goods & services ($750 profit), and craft shows/Etsy sales ($2,500+ profit).

I liked the idea of a 5k, but there seem to be so many things to factor in (fees, police, ambulance, etc.) that I just wasn't up for all the work.

  • I know of a couple last year who held a garage sale - they had family & friends donate items for the sale & they ended up doing pretty well. Not the best time of year for it, but something to think about for the spring.
