A very important lasagna question

How do you layer your lasagna?  I've never read a formal recipe and kind of wing it when it comes to making lasagna and I'm honestly not sure if I'm layering it correctly. I know I can google, but it's more fun to get Parenting opionions Smile

FTR this is what I do:

cover the dish lightly in sauce, then noodles, meat, cheese, sauce, noodles, meat, cheese, noodles, sauce, cheese.

Re: A very important lasagna question

  • My meat and sauce are mixed together so I put a litte bit of butter to grease the bottom, noodles, meat/sauce & a bit of shredded mozza & garlic, noodles, meat/sauce, shredded mozza & garlice, noodles and then the remaining amount of meat/sauce and then a full heavy layer of shredded mozza.

I make it the same way.  But my cheese mixture also has spinach in it.  My mom and grandma layer the same way.  We're polish though, so take that for what it's worth ;0)

Heeeeyyy.... Polish lady right here and I can make a mean lasagna! Or 60 cabbage rolls in under an hour. Now I'm really hungry.

  • What you do, and my cheese is usually a blend of cottage, ricotta, and shredded mozzarella.

  • I combine the meat and sauce. I put a little sauce first, then noodles, then cheese mixture (ricotta, mozzerella, parsley) then meat/sauce, repeat.

  • I do about the same except the meat and sauce are mixed. This thread has me excited to cook 3 days in a row this week! Lasagna is on my list.

This.  I just always do what my mom used to with hers.
