TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

I think it's time

...if you'll have me. I was sickeningly optimistic that this would be my month to intro on PGAL, but that's not the way things worked out. I've been lurking over here a bit, and it seems like I know more of you than those on TTCAL, though I do enjoy getting to know the newbies. While I get so excited for our grads, my heart breaks a little more each time it's not my month.

I'm Jenn, I'm 27 and I intro'ed on TTCAL in April of '12 after spending some time on the MPL board at the end of March. My history in a nutshell: DH and I have been TTC #1 since September of 2011. I got my first BFP exactly a year ago today. On February 22nd, I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum and had a D&C the next day. The next few weeks were miserable and when the cramping and bleeding became intolerable, I went back to my OB. It turned out that my OB had flucked up my first D&C (a combination of not taking all of the tissue and giving me too many meds), so I needed a second. For the first few months after we got the green light, our only bc was P&P because we were on the TTA bench self-imposed. Now now we've been actively (charting, temping, OPKing, TI, Preseed) trying since August with no luck.

Per my OBs advice, this last cycle was my first on 200mg of progesterone starting 2dpo. I really had high hopes. But after a giant temp drop today, I had to POAS and there it was: a bleach-white BFN exactly a year from my first BFP.

So now I'm stopping the progesterone and calling my new OB on CD1 to schedule CD3 bloodwork and an HSG sometime between CDs7-10. We're going to do an S/A for DH this month, too. My fear is that the multiple D&C's flucked up my ute, or that I have a weak ovulation since my LPs seem to be short and irregular.  My OB said that if everything looks okay following the tests, she wants to do a round of clomid. I'm torn because part of me wants to go straight to an RE, but the closest ones are an hour-and-a-half away and I know insurance will cover none of it.

Anyway, that's enough rambling from me, but I come bearing gifts for all of you wonderful women...

Some wine and cheese if you want to keep things classy:

But also some beer and pretzels, since that's what I'll be chowing down on tonight:

I know that if a few hours go by, it means it wasn't the right time for me to intro. I'm sorry. I'm a little embarrassed, but obviously I'll leave the post so as not to DD. I truly didn't mean to overstep. No hard feelings, ok?

    This board tends to be slower than TTCAL so I don't think it was anything personal. I'm sorry for your loss and that you find yourself here. {{hugs}}

This board is slow, especially right after the holidays I imagine.  Even TTCAL is relatively slow lately. I'm sure it's nothing personal.

I'm really sorry for your loss and that you have to be here.  Also, I understand about the RE being far away.  We drive 2 hours each way to ours, and it is un-fun.  However, I would recommend going that route over trying Clomid with your OB.  I did one round with the OB, and I now sort of wish I hadn't.  It didn't work, and, for me, it just delayed the testing and care that I actually needed.  I like my OB.  He's a good OB, but he's not a specialist, KWIM? The only benefit was that insurance did pick a bit up with the OB, though not all of it.  With the specialist, it's harder (though the insurance did pay on the initial consultation.  You should maybe check into that?).  We are also pretty much OOP for everything we do there, and I know it gets old.  Insurance sucks.  ((hugs)) and, again, so sorry you find yourself here.

So sorry you're stepping over here. :(  And don't worry about not seeing as many responses as you would on TTCAL...it's generally a slower board.  Welcome aboard and HUGS.

Welcome to this side of the board.  I'm am sorry you have to be over here.

We also travel an hour and a half each way to see our RE and are out of pocket for everything too.  It's is very overwhelming to have the stress of financial burdens on top of everything else we are going through (((Hugs)))

Some of what an RE does would be covered by insurance. They will cover any diagnostics and tests. They WONT generally cover IUI or IVF unless you have fertility coverage. So keep that in mind. And good luck!

Welcome, but sorry you find yourself on this side.  Just to add my 2 cents (or whatever it's worth), my insurance covers NOTHING, not even the diagnostic tests.  That being said, after everything I've heard on all TB boards, I would never go to an OB for Clomid, even if it's quite a drive to the nearest RE.

Sorry for my spaz moment yesterday, I was nervous about intro-ing

    image

and then my crazy brain emotions kicked in. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for the welcome.

So I'm going to talk with DH more tonight, but I'm thinking I'll do the tests with my OB (since I'll have a better chance at coverage) then take a referral to an RE and just make myself get used to the drive. Technically my OB is affiliated with the hospital that I'd likely go to for an RE, so I'm hoping they won't have to repeat tests since it's the same health system. FX anyway. I know I'm going to have to learn more patience, but my OB can get me in for testing this cycle and I would probably have to wait to get in with an RE.

so many ((hugs)) to each of you.

Welcome, Jenn!  I think having some initial testing through your OB, and then seeing an RE before going to clomid is a great plan.  GL to you!

    PAIF/SAIF, PGAL/PAL welcome.
TTC since March 2010 ~ Dx Unexplained IF September 2011
    2011: IUI + Clomid = CP#1
2012: 3 more IUIs + Clomid = 3 more CPs. One on-our-own pg, also CP
    2013: BTB IUI + Lupron/Follistim/Prometrium/PIO = CP #6
IF testing, RPL testing, Autoimmune testing = all normal
    So lost.
