Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Crappy Neighbors :(

Just venting. It's giving me anxiety. Trespassing, loitering, vandalism, confrontational - kids use airsoft guns to shoot at our cars, dog, etc...Been ongoing for four years now. Call local pd & all they do is patronize, neighbors deny. I'm at a loss & tired of feeling uncomfortable on my own home. Especially with a 7.5 month old. Their dog runs loose & the first walk dd & i went on dog charges straight toward us... since we moved back in our house about a month ago (moved away for 8mns for work purposes).

We've asked repeatedly to please respect our privacy - all it does it make it worse & they push back further...

EDIT

DH & I are quiet shy type, we like our privacy. Not confrontational to a fault, yet the dad next door insists on going out of his way to talk - first by pounding on our door. then by confronting dh after we got home from errands due to a note I left on their door upon finding pellets the other day (amongst other issues mentioned-final straw were the bb's). we both are timid to a fault & rather they just leave us be, ignore them & hope they get the message. Any tips if you've been there? We live next door to a true BIFF&fam :/ sigh.smh

  • OMG! thats horrible! So sorry you have to deal with that...

are they renters? or actually own the house?

can you get it on video to prove they are doing it?

hope you can figure something out soon!

Home owners. they use to own the property our house sits on before the house was built. apparently had to sell. we're looking into surveillance, shouldn't have to. yet we are. :/ It's almost like we're facing the brunt of resentment due to them losing their property & informing them their 4 kids & friends can no longer play on our yard. 10 kids use to pile on our yard. then when we said no, they'd walk up & down our property line. we put up a fence...since then have been recieving vandalism, just can catch them in the act. bb pellets today, who knows tomorrow. the mom use to watch her kids hang off the neighboring palms & not do a dar~n thing, up hello???

  • I am so sorry for your situation. That is completely awful!!! As for the dog charging you and DD there is a citronella spray at shelters/ vets that is 8 dollars and it will make a dog run away from you but won't hurt them. Make sure you have that or some kind of a spray with you when walking.

I agree with pp in to try to get it taped somehow so this can stop. You should not have to live like that. Gl!

  • I would put up some hidden surveillance camera's and catch those little thugs in the act.  Then when you get them on tape go to the police and if they still won't get off their butts and do something, I would then go talk to a lawyer.  I'm not a sue happy person but maybe suing them will get them to leave you alone.

Sorry you have to live next to such awful people.....people like that should NOT procreate.

  • No advice here, just feeling your pain...we live in a townhouse, and the new neighbors that share a side of our house with us smoke pot consistently and we can smell it through the wall. We've also witnessed at least 2 drug deals and are aware that the guy is a drug dealer (yay hooray!!) :o( We have a drug task force officer's cell number to call when we smell the smoke, but nothing has happened so far. They also have a very annoying pitt bull that they like to leave outside on their patio during little man's rest time or at bed time. The dog barks and it keeps little man up. The best part about this situation? They have a 16 month old little boy who is home when they're smoking...great, right?!

We're worried about saying anything because we don't want them to harass us...but the PD's not doing anything...it's so frustrating!!!

So sorry you're dealing with horrible neighbors too...maybe they'll move soon!! :o

Ugh! I feel for the baby & dog...It's ashame the dog is put into a stereotypical situation & crappy the child will have to grow up in a tough environment, where he/she too will face being stereotyped & looked down upon. How ppl can live like that I will never understand. Apparently there are druggie teens in the neighborhood, who dh is mainly concerned about.

Sorry you guys are having to deal with it to a point it's affecting your health. Do you know if they're renters, maybe contact their landlord? We're afraid of dealing with retaliation, since teens these days have NO conscience, whatsoever. It is truly a shame.

  • That's horrible that you guys have to deal with that. I agree with PPs that some kind of surveillance is in order. You may also want to take photos of the vandalism and keep any evidence (like the BBs).

As for the dog, call animal control and ask about your city's leash laws.

Although, some friends of mine had an interesting solution to neighbors who had a very agressive pit bull that they did nothing to control. He worked the phrases "your dog" and "my shotgun" into the same sentence. Problem solved. Smile
