Trouble TTC

exercise after iui?

Hi ladies I had iui 2 this morning and am now wondering about the trip I had planned to the gym tonight. My RE has not said anything to me regarding exercise so I'm wondering what ya'll do?

  • I have done 3 IUI's (all performed by different nurse practitioners at my RE and the first 2 times they didn't give me any exercise restrictions and the 3rd nurse said I shouldn't do anything that would put my heart rate above 120.

Since I am still not pregnant after these 3 IUI's I have no idea whether exercise made any difference....but I think not going for runs made me a little crazy!

  • My RE said I was ok to do anything I would normally do.  For my own peace of mind I don't work out on the day of my IUI, but in the days/weeks afterwards I go to the gym like I would normally do.  I had IUI#2 on the 31st, so we're almost on the same cycle :)  GL and hope your tww flies by!

  • Lurking...

When I got pg with an IUI, I was a complete bum.  I took off work and just laid on the couch all day (it was a Friday) and the entire weekend and watched movies. I did no exercise in the 2 ww.  This was the recommendation of my nurse who did the iui.  With that said, I have known other people who have done several IUI's where they pretty much put themsleves on bedrest after the iui and didn't get pregnant, but the one time they said screw it and went about their normal activities and exercise programs, they got pregnant. So who knows...

  • Thanks! I think I'll feel worse if I don't go. I started kickboxing about a month ago and it really helps with the stress of infertility treatments.

Believe: Thanks and I hope your 2ww flies by also! please keep me updated!

  • I kickbox as well and my RE has completly forbid me to do it during my IUI cycles because it's too jarring. She gave me the green light to do the elliptical, yoga and light aerobics but kickboxing and running are out.

Sucks because it's my favorite. :(

  • I was a runner and am not allowed to run while I'm doing treatments. She doesn't want me to do anything too jarring. I am still allowed to bike, swim, lift weights..

  • Well, I drove the 30min to my kickboxing studio and then decided to skip tonight. Better safe than sorry I suppose. I must admit I was kinda mad on my way home. I mean, I'm trying to do something good for my body and I can't do it when others who do nothing good for themselves get pregnant on accident. Anyway... vent over.

I plan to call my nurse tomorrow and see what she has to say about the kickboxing. Hopefully, she will give me the go ahead :-)
