Is your LO still using one? Did you get rid of it already? Whats your plan or what did you do to get rid of it?
I'm not in a hurry to get rid of it, but was trying to think of a game plan to do it, before the new baby comes, for sure.
How often did your LO use the paci? DS uses it for naps and bedtime, which I'm dreading taking away, since he is a horrible sleeper to begin with.
Re: pacifier
Just naps and bedtime here too! There is no way I am dropping this any time soon, even though the Pedi was adamant about dropping it before 18m. To hell with that. Whenever he wants to come to my house and put my screaming maniac baby to sleep without a pacifier then I'll gladly drop it.
I got her to the point where I will occasionally give it to her in the car if I know she's tired, but she knows she has to put it in the cup holder before she gets out of the car. This and the fact that she knows she can't have it unless she's in her crib (in the house) is good enough for me.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
About a month later he ended up getting hand, mouth foot disease yeah so much fun and because his mouth was FULL of canker sores for 1 week he couldn't use the Paci at all let alone eat anything. I decided to not give it back once his mouth was heeled and he was totally fine without it since it had been a week of not using it. In a way we kinda lucked out but I still paid by being up at night for a week straight with that awful sickness. Poor guy :
This exactly; he hates when we take it away, but has gotten better and no longer throws fits. I dread taking it away, because it is such a comfort item for him too.
Still using it for naps/bedtime -- I am dreading taking it away because he's such a good sleeper, and I don't want to mess with that. In fact, we know he's ready for night night when he'll actually take the paci and hold onto it.
Sometimes I regret giving a paci, but it gives him such comfort at bedtime and it helps him sleep, so I definitely think it was worth it.
I regret it some days too, but it really helped in the beginning so I'm not too upset with it. If it were a 24-7 thing, I think I'd regret it more. My mom gives me grief about it.
I've noticed lately he has started to have an emotional need for it. When he gets upset or scared he says "Beebee?!" ... "BEEBEE!!?" like, panicked. (Beebee = binky) and then calms down once he has it.
So, yeah, we're going to have to nip that in the bud. DS1 was binky free (bedtime and everything) by 2 years old. That is my goal for DS2. I feel like the longer we wait the harder it will be to ditch.
