We have this thing called a car seat travel bag, its a big bag with shoulder straps that you put the car seat in so it doesn't get all banged up in baggage. Its really big so you can shove a bunch more stuff in there. we usually put a bag with all of our daughter's clothes in there, and there's still room for some boots or coats. someone recommended registering for this and every time we fly I am so glad we have it. Esp if you are on an airline that charges for checking bags, because they don't charge for checking the car seat.
Check the airlines regulations for this as well as the FAA depending on if you are FF or BF.
Not sure what all you are taking or your arrangements when you get there, but if you will need certain amenities (a crib), see if the hotel will provide one or if you can rent one from a local shop.
We are going to Naples FL next week and again in March. The hotel we are staying at will provide a crib for us and then we will make do with LOs travel unit for his car seat, stroller, and us it as a highchair for meal time too. When we stay in March we are going to rent him a crib. We are also getting a car set travel bag like PP said.
