Hi ladies,
I've been reading posts on this board for a few weeks now, but I decided to take the plunge and introduce myself here because this forum seems like a supportive group of adoptive parents/adopted people/expectant mothers. My name is Lindy and my husband and I are in the beginning stages of looking into Domestic Infant Adoption. We are thinking we'll go independent at this point. We live in Georgia. I taught first grade for six years, and now I'm back in school getting a Master's in Media/Instructional Technology so that I can be a school librarian when I return to work. I've got one more semester (hooray!) before I graduate and get my media certification.
Since we've just begun this process, I'm interested in any tips or hints you all have to make things go more smoothly. I really enjoy reading your posts, and if you live in Georgia, I'd love to hear your feedback on agencies, lawyers, and how you are going about networking/looking for birth mothers to match with.
I'm glad I found this board! Those of you who are already adoptive parents, congratulations and thank you for giving advice to those of us on the journey. Prospective parents and expectant parents, good luck in finding the perfect match for you!
Lindy
Re: Hello! (Intro :)
Welcome!
Have you checked out the FAQs at the top of the board? They have some resources for you if you haven't seen them already.
I'll admit we didn't know what we were doing when we started. But we worked with an agency that held our hand the whole way through. I guess my biggest tips are to do your research and find an avenue that works for you and has good reviews, and make copies of EVERYTHING!
Welcome! Love the screen name....some of my favorite things!
Good luck on your journey!
