Switching to WCM??

I forget how the switch goes.  I have much more BM stored than I had with DD.  I don't think I will have to go to formula (DS does get about 4 oz formula a week).  My big dilemma is I am going to b away from DS for about 5 days the day after he turns 1.  I planned in stop BF in Feb. So do I start weening this month?  Pump extra and try to have enough for when I am gone ( this may b tough). Then when I come back am I nursing, do I pump while away???

any thoughts would be nice.  Looking for the best situation for him and his caregivers while I am away.

Re: Switching to WCM??

  • It's entirely personal preference.  If you want to continue BFing then start pumping now to try to have enough for when you're away (or supplement with formula or WCM).  If you want to wean, this is a good opportunity to do so.  If your son is used to nursing at a certain time I would try to switch that up and see how he does with it (for example, if he's used to nursing before bed have your H give him a bottle while you pump and see how he does with it).  That way if he pitches a fit you have time to work on that adjustment before you are gone for those few days but if he's fine with it then I wouldn't worry about it.
