Need help creating planet mobile for sons room!

Ok so, I am about to update my son's room from "nursery" to something a little more his age group. He loves disney cars so that is the basis of the design.Currently it's Winnie the pooh which is obviously being replaced but will be comibg down and stored nicely for baby #2 when that day comes. Currently there are BUTTERFLIES suspended on the ceiling over his bed with fishing line and I have noticed he loves these and they help him sleep!Soooo. To replace them without taking away the idea altogether I was going to suspend homemade PLANETS from fishing line over his bed... Only I'm wondering if you guys have made these before or bought premades....What materials should I make the balls out of? I was thinking of staying away from stud go Pam balls bc I don't think they would paint smoothlyHelp thanks:)

I have miserable luck and would personally have a terrible time trying to hang the styrofoam up. So I would blow up balloons to different sizes, use newspaper and glue, and paper mache them myself.
