I was a lurker on this board but thought I'd share my story to encourage others. My DS was born 17 months ago with C-Section (at 39w6d) due to "fetal distress" this was after about 24 hours of labor and not dilating past 8.
With DD I woke up at 3:30 am with contractions that were fairly painful and about 8 minutes apart. My water broke around 4:00 am, with a slow leak nearly every contraction after. By 6 am the contractions were 4 minutes apart and I woke up DH. We arrived at the hospital at 8:30 am, around 9am I was checked and 4cm dialated and cervix very thin. At 10:15 I was 6 cm dilated and fully effaced, I got into the tub. The nurse checked me at 11:00 and said I was complete and could push when ever I felt ready. I began pushing about 11:15 and our baby girl was born at 12:40, with no tearing.
It was a different hospital with a completely different experience than my first. So nice to never feel rushed, pressured, or offered drugs. My labor was much faster than the first. GOOD LUCK to all VBAC hopefuls! I can't believe how much faster & easier this recovery has been even while taking care of a toddler in addition to my newborn.
