Post preg - Loss of appeitite

I've never been w/out an appetite, brkfst, lunch, dinner, snacks, but since having lo I don't have the desire to eat, and nothing appeals to me.  I'm hungry, I can hear my stomach growling, and I know I need to eat, I just don't want to.

Anyone else feeling this way?

Re: Post preg - Loss of appeitite

  • I feel the exact same way. I have to force myself to eat meals and I usually only end up eating two meals a day. I use to love food, so this is a change for me. I'm hoping my appetite will come back soon.

  • This happened to me with my first, and again (but not to the same extent) with this little guy.  I found that I had to force myself to eat and drink, knowing it was necessary to keep my milk supply going.

I hope your appetite comes back soon!

  • I just posted about this on the breastfeeding board last week!  I still don't really have a desire to eat most of the time, but DH is good at putting food in front of me and reminding me that I need the calories to keep feeding LO.  I've also tried to add some higher calorie foods like chocolate milk, avocados, and the occasional cliff bar.  I think it's starting to get better, but responses I got on the other board said some women feel like this for a few months PP.
  • I was like that for at least a few weeks with my first LO and have heard others say it a lot also, so I think it's common.  I was never, ever hungry after having him.

  • I have this, too! I wake up with a little growl in my stomach, but by the time I make my way downstairs, I just have no interest in eating. I know I should, so I do, but it isn't because I want to eat.

My husband has been pretty good with making sure I eat something for each meal.

  • I feel the exact same way. I know though that I have to eat at least a little bit and drink an abundance of water because I am breastfeeding. If you are as well, you have to eat and continue taking your prenatal vitamins.

  • yep - the thought of food turns my stomach a bit - Im even having to force fluid intake

  • Yep, here too. I think I'm going to try eating more small snacks instead of 3 big meals per day.

  • It was really weird to go from being hungry all the time while pregnant to not being hungry at all after I had her. I feel like Im forgetting to eat and not even caring about it.

  • I had this really bad the first week. I could not eat anything and i felt so nauseas I ended up trying to drink boost nutritional drinks to at least keep something down. Eventually I ended up having a UTI/kidney infection which i think had something to do with making me not eat. My appetite has started to return again so make sure you are not sick.

  • I lost my appetite in the third tri and it never really returned. Every now and then I get ravenous and snack like crazy, but most of the time I have to force myself to eat strictly because I am responsible for feeding my LO.
