For Christmas, we wrapped up some of LO's birthday presents that we never opened. I also ended up saving the Little People Farm and Little People Noah's Ark (originally planned as Xmas gifts) to open in the future. It's nice to have a little present stash in the closet for a rainy day.
Actually, I already shoved one of the birthday presents that we re-wrapped for Christmas back up in the closet. I may just keep re-wrapping it for every occasion but never leaving it out because it is THAT annoying. Loudest most annoying toy on the planet!!!!

Re: Do you put aside gifts for later?
Not really.
However, LO doesn't have a lot of toys so she "needs" what she gets usually.
I also try not to overkill the toy buying personally, so when others do it we're not overwhelmed.
I will buy things like puzzles, DVDS and art supplies on clearance and save them for a holiday or a dull boring whiny day and pull out then.
I know people who do this all the time though. It doesn't bother me, I've just never had a reason to do it.
LOL this post is so funny. I haven't rewrapped anything, but there is another small play kitchen that a family member gave her for xmas that I just left in the box for her to open another time, which very likely could drag out to her bday.
H bought her one of those furreal dogs, that is about as annoying as what you are describing. It barks/whines constantly, and if you get close to it, it starts flipping around like a maniac.

Why not just not buy as much stuff? I'm confused as to why you'd buy things for a holiday and then not gift them.
I could see putting gifts that others had given her away for a rainy day, but why purchase things in the first place, and then not give them?
No, but we do buy as we go along for things. Like, I bought almost nothing at x-mas time for him because we got things as we went along that we knew he'd be developmentally ready for at x-mas. We'll do the same for his b-day.
We have set aside some toys that he isn't ready for (gifts from other people) or even some of the toys we got him because he got so much other stuff from other people at xmas. We'll rotate them in as he gets tired of other stuff.
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

Yes, but I don't re-gift them. We just put some in his closet and pull them out periodically throughout the year. I would have liked to put away a few more this Christmas, but most got completely opened before I could stash them.
ETA: the stashed stuff is gifts from other people, if appropriate to save...obviously something that is already a little "young" for him gets used now.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
That is fantastic! Is it wrong that I now really want to do this? I love those dolls.
There was a really good sale. I got the doll and her $24 accessories set for $50. I haven't even taken it out of the shipping box. I think I want to get her a Bitty Baby first. I love these dolls too! My coworker's DD is 10 and loves playing with them.
Yes, my MIL sent me two huge boxes full of gifts that I was not expecting at all. To ship them across the country had to cost as much as all the gifts! So, I really want DD to be able to enjoy them. I think if she had all of them to play with she would tire on all of them too quickly. So, we took a few, that were on the higher age limit/recommendation and tucked them back in our shed. We'll pull them out throughout the year when she starts getting bored of the toys she's playing with currently. I am to lazy to re-wrap them though, LOL.
I also had to sort through her toys and take out all the old infant toys to donate and I still have a large Rubbermaid tote full of toys in her closet in storage to rotate!
