DH informed me that we need more ice melt even though we just bought an $8 container of it the other day. Today he finally got around to working on the walks in the front and back of our home and used the whole container of ice melt. I told him that he needs to use it sparingly and give it time to work. Given that he has lived in the area for over 20 years I would assume he would know this already.
