So, I bought aquaphor.. I cut baths to 3x/week, I've tried the Aveno eczema body wash, we lotion DS up 2x/day every day.. his baths are less than 10 minutes, and he's lotioned within 2 minutes of getting out of the tub, etc.. nothing is helping It's actually spreading. He's got 7 patches on his chest and belly, and now it's gone up over his shoulder and all down his back.. what's on his back is a bit different.. that's not "patch like" like the others, it's just bumpy dry skin all over.. and not red yet, but it's just starting..
Sigh. Called the ped earlier, she has us going to see an allergist. She originally wanted us to take him to Chop's Allergist, but there's a 3 month waiting period to be seen.. ummm, I don't think we should wait 3 months?! So, my nephew has horrible allergies and sees a specialist out of Nemours.. I called, and was able to get us an appointment on Jan 7th! Hoping to get some answers! I really hope he doesn't have allergies
Re: Another eczema post..

Ditto PP who said that winter is the worst for eczema. Add to that that this is your LO's first winter, and it's just a bad combination.
My DS's skin was sooooo bad last winter--his face would flare up the worst (weeping, flaking, etc), and just as soon as it cleared up, it would flare up again. Spring and summer were much better. He has had a few flares this winter, but nothing like it was last winter. We did end up going to the dermatologist last winter and got a mild steroid ointment that we use on the worst flares. It really helps to clear him up quickly. Just takes one or two doses. Also, I have found that CeraVe cream works really well for the spots that are just rough and scaly, but not red and inflamed yet. I can usually head off a full-on flare if I catch it early enough.
So, the moral of the story, like so many others in parenting, is that it gets better. The first winter is the worst. Hang in there.
