I generally like them, but you can definitely go too far with them.
I actually know a family that named their three boys Hunter, Fisher, and Trapper. They think it's cute...
I don't HATE Hunter, I don't really like it either... but Fisher and Trapper, just no.
I think I've seen someone ask about Carpenter on here before. That's the worst one I can remember.
I can kind of understand if they're honoring family with the name, after all a lot of occupational names are surnames first. But, still not a big fan, especially as a first name.
Generally speaking I'm not a big fan, but I do really like Carter, Tyler, and Taylor. And Stuart/Stewart.
It does make me giggle when someone chooses one because they think it sounds affluent [girl I know chose Porter because she thought it sounded preppy/wealthy]. Dude, you're naming your kid after a peasant.
I'm really not a fan. They sound pretentious to me, which is funny because as PP mentioned, they are actually often poor professions historically. I very much dislike Mason, Cooper, Tanner, Porter etc.
I don't mind these names because for the most part I think of them more as names than occupations. Gotta say Trapper is pretty bad, but other than that I like a lot of them. Mason is a favorite.
Really NMS. Not only do I dislike most occupation names, but they tend to be used by parents to seem high class when they convey the exact opposite. Mason, Hunter, Tyler, Taylor, Tucker, Parker, Porter, Tanner...they're all bad. I don't have a least favorite.

Not generally a fan of most of them and some are just so overdone at this point I'm sick of them (like Mason). But if they're spelled right I don't side-eye!

Fletcher is our top boys name right now - I guess that was very occupational in medieval times.
Mason - I like but it is too popular for me.
Fisher and Hunter - both are too outdoorsy to me (and I am not sure you count them as occupational).
Piper - I like for a girl, but again, don't know if you really count this as occupational.
Porter - is kind of trending but is a last name in my fam, so not something I would use for a first name.

WOW! That's just... awful!
