I hope nobody minds me posting about NYRs:) I am ready to start on a couple of goals and was curious what others were up to? Just for fun, what are your New Years resolutions? Mine aren't baby related necessarily, but I need to take care of a couple of things with myself:
1. Stop drinking soda/drink more water. I drink about 2 sodas a day and need to drink more water. I am going to "phase out" and drink one per day or less for month one, then only a couple a week in month two, then by March down to zero.
2. Get back to working out regulary. Before my son, I worked out 5 days a week prior to and during pregnancy. During maternity leave and before the midwest winter I was at least walking 2-3 miles per day with him in the stroller. For the past month, nada, zip, zilch. Gotta make some basement workouts happen, dust off the Dvds!
Re: New Years Resolutions?
Spend more time outside!
And not let myself get bogged down with the "have to's" of life, like dishes, pre-filling bottles for the next day, etc.
My main goals are to:
1) Lose weight/get into better shape. We have an elliptical machine on our deck that we are going to bring inside (and put where our Christmas tree currently is) and we are going to use it. (DH is included in the "we" part of this.)
2) Work hard to declutter. Our house is on the market and we want things to be more manageable, in case the house sells.
3) Clear out our debt. Yep...this is one of the reasons our house is on the market. DH really wants to quit his job and go to grad school...we can swing it as soon as our debtload is reduced.
4) Help my 3 year old socialize more. I just realized that she hasn't played with any of her friends in 3 weeks. Her best friend was on vacation, so his mom and I didn't do our weekly kid-swap, we are in between swim lesson sessions, and our sleep schedule is crazy wonky right now. (DD has been going to bed between 2 and 4 am and waking up sometime in the mid-afternoon.) DH's work schedule is changing, so our family's sleep schedule will also be changing. Thank goodness!
4) Eat better. DH's work schedule will be changing, so we will be able to eat dinner as a family 5 days a week, instead of 1. Also, DD2 is just starting solids, so that is another good motivation to improve our entire family's diet. Also, see #1.
So...I'm pretty much hitting all of the stereotypical resolutions!
1. Lose the baby weight so that I can finally feel good about myself again.
2. Work on being nicer all the way around. Husband, family, etc.
3. Not get so stressed about day to day. What isn't done today will still be there tomorrow.
4. Keep enjoying every moment with DS as they are going WAY too fast.
Happy New Year mamas!
Nicely put. I agree!
To start music together classes with DS and spend 2013 enjoying different experiences with my little man!
Learn to relax my FTM brain a bit and remain diligent about what's best for LO, but take each day as it comes, being more accepting of the unexpected. I'm a bit of a control freak
Make more mommy friends.
OP:I too had to start drinking more water and say goodbye to the soda. Brookstones has a fabulous water infuser! I can flavor my water with various fruits and mint. I love it!
To lose the rest of my baby weight. I have about 20 pounds to go. My work is starting a biggest loser competition this week so I am joining, for the motivation it will provide. I'll have to weight myself in front of co-workers!!
To work on my relationship with DH. I have been so focused on being a good mother, that I kind of forgot that I am also a wife and let our relationship suffer a bit because of it.
To make it 4 more months breastfeeding.
1. Be more healthy all around. Eat better, exercise, stress less.
2.Be the best mommy I can! More activities outside of our house
3.Make more time for my husband and I.
