What to bring to Riverside?

edited July 2021 in Ohio Babies

I'm 37 weeks and trying to get my bag packed for the big day...just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for stuff to pack? I've got a robe, slippers, socks, a few DVDs, chapstick and all of the toiletries I need, nipple cream, nursing bra, and insurance card, pediatrician info and my Rhogam card. I also packed a bag for my brand new baby girl including our Boppy pillow, a warm coming home outfit, a couple of hats and headbands and a tutu (I've heard they have AWESOME baby picture photographers) blankies and a snuggly suit for the ride home.

Does anyone know if I need to bring her some clothes for while we are at the hospital?  Extra onesies, jammies and socks?  We went on our hospital tour, but of course I didn't think of any of this until now when we are down to the wire!

Thanks for your help!  Getting ready to start the hubster's bag right now if anyone has suggestions for that too :)

Re: What to bring to Riverside?

  • I don't have any advice on packing as I am only 23 weeks along right now.  Though, you can probably give Riverside a call and ask about the extra baby stuff.  Additionally, you might be able to find a hospital bag packing list on The Bump or anywhere online to see if there is anything you have missed.  Remember to take snacks for yourself and your hubby!!  Best wishes for a smooth, healthy delivery.
  • During delivery, I honestly didn't need anything but chapstick. They will give you grippy slipper socks to wear in the delivery room. I was only in labor/delivery for about 8 hours though.

For recovery (the room you stay in for 2-3 days), I needed my boppy pillow, toiletries, phone & charger and clothes for myself. They gave me lanolin nipple cream (but I had to ask for it). Also, they'll give you ice pads, mesh undies & a peri bottle for your postpartum recovery.

For LO, I brought an outfit for the pictures (they do take really nice ones!) and a going home outfit. While you're there they will provide clothes, blankets, diapers, hats and burp clothes for LO.

The rooms are pretty small & they fill up quickly with personal items.

Hope you have a smooth delivery and recovery!

  • Thank you so much!  You cleared up every single one of my questions! :)
  • It sounds like you've got a very well prepared bag!  Definitely ask them for Lanolin and load up on the diapers too!  If you have a dog I had DH bring one of the hospital onesies home with the baby's scent on it so he would already know her before we brought her home.  A good piece of advice I got from a friend was to bring a few outfits in a few sizes and even though I thought she was nuts I brought NB and 0-3 which was lucky because my supposedly 8-10 lbs baby was only 6 lbs 6 oz so when we left the hospital NB was almost a little big on her!!  They do have a good photographer so an extra outfit for that is a good idea...also clothes for while you are there...I used their side-snap shirts but I put my own clothes on her.  You'll definitely want your phone charger since you'll be taking more pictures than you ever have before in your life and sending/receiving billions of texts too!  Enjoy every minute of it!!  Good luck!
