Anyone with a Crane humidifier?

We pulled the humidifier back out when we started using the heater. Within two days of using it, I started to notice a mildew smell in the steam. Has anyone else had this problem?

Will the suggested cleaning with vinegar rinse as a cleaning method take care of that? Or do I need to do a bleaching?

    Have you bought the filter? We bought one to help with mold and stuff in the water. Also, they are supposed to be cleaned every day...which I think is crazy because I wouldn't remember. I clean every other day, air drying the parts.

    Clean it with vinegar each time you fill it - that should take care of the problem and keep it clean.  We don't have a Crane model but be sure to replace any filters regularly too.
