Ergo

I am just now getting around to using our Ergo and Oliver still seems to sit quite low in it. Are you guys still using the infant insert or a towel/blanket to prop them up a bit in it at this stage? I thought by now he would be ok to use it as normal, so maybe I just don't have it adjusted correctly.

Re: Ergo

  • I never used the insert..hated it.  I was using my K'Tan until he started fitting better in it last month.  I think it is more about head control and if their legs fit comfortable in the position.

My baby is 13 lbs now and fits great.

  • We use a blanket. DS can't quite see out and he doesn't like to sit in it unless he can see.
  • Howell is 17 lbs 12 oz and has been riding in the ergo about a month. I didn't get the infant insert because I had other carriers second hand good for little babies.

He is low in it but his head pops all the way above the fabric. He really seems to like it. When we had people over for Boxing Day, he rode on my back so i could cook. He loved it.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • we have used it for dd, but we keep her legs tucked in still cause she's a little 12 lb petite girl and i felt she was spread too wide with her legs out. we don't use the infant insert this way because she hated it and since she's sitting on her feet she sits up high enough to look out.

  • DD is very petite and tends to sink down in the carrier. We stopped using the insert because she does not like being that warm and snuggled anymore. She really does not like to be in the ergo right now because she cant really see. So we have been using the side hold on the moby because she can see more. I hope once she gets taller we can use the ergo again. I have never thought to use a towel to prop her up. Might give that a try!

  • DD is 12lbs and we started her in the Ergo without the insert (the insert is meant for babies up to 12lbs).  She fits perfectly.  We do legs out.

Do you have it tight enough?

  • Thanks for the replies! I have a long torso and had it too low on my hips. Adjusted it and fits great now. So much more comfortable than the Bjorn.
