Wwyd?

I found out this morning that a job I've been interested in for years may become open for hire in April. Of course, this is the week after I find out I'm pregnant. Dh and I had decided we would ttc and I would job search. Whatever happened first was what we would stick with. I'm dwelling on it now though. I want to be able to be home with Lj and b#2. We can afford for me to stay home because we do not have any substantial debt.

The tough part is, this is the job I've wanted for 3 years. I do have a good chance of getting it. The lady I nanny for knows the girl who is leaving, making the job available, as well as another lady in Hr. My best friends company has a business account with the company and she is in there several times a week and knows a few of the people in there very well. Not only do I know people, but I'm familiar with much of the things they work with and have had a job similar in the past.

So I could go to real world work and put the babies in daycare or I can continue to nanny for the family I'm currently with. I have a very flexible schedule now, Lj and b#2 are with me and Lj can begin preschool at our church 3 days a week with the youngest nanny baby in August. The last option won't be possible if I'm at work because I would have to drive to daycare, then 20 minutes the other way to drop her at school, then back to work. Wwyd?

  • I am sure this isn't an option but would they consider part time?  Other wise I would apply to give yourself more time to think about it and turn it down at interview or offer when you decide.

  • Ohhhh, that is SO tough. I would personally say, stay home with your kids. Maybe you could do the interview just to see what happens?

  • That is super tough.  Personally, I'd stay home.  My feeling is that jobs come and go, but if you have the option to stay home and want to, then you should take the opportunity to do so.  But that's just me; I love staying at home, but know that it's not for everyone!

  • Definitely a tough call, but I think I would stay home. The job may come available again, or even another better job may become available, but your babies will only be babies once. If you want and are able to stay home the that would be my choice.

  • I keep telling myself that in a few years another awesome opportunity will arise and I'll be ready. I do love being at home. I may apply just to tackle my own fancy and go from there. It won't hurt anything, right?

  • I say apply. If you decide you really want to stay at home later, applying/interviewing doesn't mean you have to take the job.

  • I would definitely apply and interview. Flamed up confession alert I would even consider taking the job until the baby is born. Maybe you can start full time and switch to part time?

    Yup - That's what I'd do too.
