The Difference?

What is the main benefit between breastfeeding 6 months and one year? I know once they move into solids the should still receive breast milk but how does it work with BF and adding solids? My supply has tanked so drastically that I am thinking it isn't even worth it since he receives 90% formula anyway. I pump once a day and nurse first thing in the morning and at night because that is all I am producing. I am not sure I can keep this up for 8 more months.

Re: The Difference?

  • I think main positive is immunities, but I'm on phone and can't post links easily. If you google "breastfeeding benefits", the third link down should have a nice list based on how long you BF. I think that there are always benefits even if it's only once a day if you choose to continue.

  • I only pump once a day now. I get between 6 and 8oz. I divide that between his bottles so he's now getting mostly formula. I'm keeping up with the BM for immunity purposes, and because I just can't let go.

I feel like I gave up so easily, but I'm very happy to be able to go to bed the same time as SO, and to be able to spend time with LO, and other family during the day.
